Alta won't work outside charger

If I tap it while it's on the charger it will display but once it goes black it will not display again once tapped. How do I fix this? I'm syncing on a mac desktop.

If your tracker isn't working outside the charger, I recommend restarting the unit by following the steps in the help article: How do I restart my Fitbit device?.
