My Alta HR band is new - I had just replaced it in October! The bands break after using them for a months to a year! It seems that the band is "built to break" where the plastic component covers the electronics on the band - the plastic is not strong enough to stay on the stiff metal and tears off - specially if you wear it during a sport that requires a lot of wrist movement. Seems to be poor design?
