Battery dies in 2 hours

About 2-3 weeks ago my Alta HR died all of a sudden. I plugged it in to charge and nothing happened, I tried to reset it and nothing worked. Eventually I left it plugged in to the charger for a couple of days and it eventually switched back on again, but now the battery only lasts about 2 hours, so I can only wear it when I train.

I have tried resetting it a couple of times, as well as all of the other troubleshooting options, but I still only get around 2 hours of battery life between charges.

Is there anything else that I can try?

Hi @Jenni01  you shouldn't put the Fitbit on the charger for more than a few hours. It's entirely possible that your Alta HR has reached the end of it's life. If multiple restarts haven't revived it, it's close to dying. I've had this happen before when I couldn't get my Flex to hold a charge for very long and it ultimately died. Mother's Day sales ought to be announced soon, so take a look at what could be your new Fitbit.

Thanks, that’s what I was thinking as well. This is just my 2nd Fitbit and they don’t seem to last all that long. Might be worth looking into another brand to see if they have a longer life.

The Alta HR has lasted me over two years. It varies user to user as to the life of it. Keeping the battery charged and not letting it die is a plus. Not getting it wet helps, too. Really, so many variables in how long these devices live.

Hey Fitbit, I can't afford to buy a new device every two years. That's a terrible lifespan! 😬

@JudyPal  my Alta HR is still going strong. I used it daily!

I agree. My FitBit is just over 2 years old. So was my previous one. Up until it just stopped working, I took good care of it, only charged it for a couple of hours and wore it every day. I can’t really afford to be buying a new fitness device every 2 years.

As I read through this forum, it seems a lot of us are having the same failure/fail to hold charge issues in just the last few weeks.  Can't help but wonder if there was an update of some kind that has caused issues with our devices.  I can't keep buying FitBits every two years; and shouldn't have to. I have written to customer service to see if I can get some help!
