The Fitbit Alta HR I bought at great cost for my daughter under 2 years ago is officially dead, I have decided. Very disappointing for the device to have such a short useful life.If it had "Unlikely to last over 20 months" on the original advertising blurb then I would not have ought it.
It appears to charge fully, then turns itself off a few hours later and will only restart on the button lead. Then appears fully charged and dies again.
My question is-what can I do with it, other than just hurl it into the bin?
Is there any facility which restores these things, does anyone take them apart and make them work again, or is there any where to send it?

Hi @Jeni54 Best Buy has a huge recycling system and they do take fitness trackers. Might be your local one will accept it.

This happened to me yesterday too! Had more than 50% battery and all of a sudden it went dead. I've charged it overnight but it won't work at all. Very disappointed as my original fitbit lasted far longer. I'm wondering if that is it or is there a way to reboot?

@GillianJ you can do a restart of your device, by pushing the button on the charger. Charging overnight is not a good idea. Two hours or so and it should be charged.
