Since last week, my Alta HR has stopped registering my outdoor bike rides and I must log them manually. I'm not sure what else to do. If i delete and reinstall my app, would i lose my data?

Hi @ChasKat, welcome to the Community Forums! Sorry for the delayed reply.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the details that were shared in your post. To better assist you with this, can you please let me know when was the first time you experienced this situation and how many times since then? Are you experiencing such difficulties with other activities too or just with outdoor bike?

I'd like to let you know that uninstalling and reinstalling the app will not erase your information, however, this will not troubleshoot the actual issue. That being said, if you haven't already done so, please try the following steps to restart your device and let me know how it goes:

  1. Plug your charging cable into a USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
  2. Clip the other end of the charging cable to the port on the back of the tracker. The pins on the charging cable must lock securely with the port. You’ll know the connection is secure when the tracker vibrates and you see a battery icon on your tracker’s display. Your tracker will begin charging.
  3. Press the button on your charging cable 3 times within a few seconds, briefly pausing between presses. The button is on the end of the charging cable that is plugged into your computer. When you see the Fitbit logo and the tracker vibrates, this means the tracker has restarted.
  4. Unplug your tracker from the charging cable.

Keep me posted and let me know if you have any additional questions.

Dear Ricardo

Thanks for your response

I have had this issue with my Fitbit since the start of the year. When I cycle to work in the morning my Fitbit does not register my commute. However, when I cycle back from work in the evening it does register my ride.

I have checked the cable that came with my Fitbit, but can’t find a button. Do I need to buy another charging cable?

Kind regards

My Fitbit Alta HR has stopped registering my activity in the last few days.

I tried the restart method as described yesterday and it found my bike ride for that day, but not my previous long bike adventure!

Today fitbit did not record bike ride and so undertook the restart as per yesterday.

No bike ride recorded!

What can I do to resolve this situation.

Did a hard bike ride this morning and the fitbit has only registered 17 mins of it. Will need to enter manually yet again!
