Different app to connect my Alta HR

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My ALta HR stopped syncing to the app. I did all the suggested steps to fix it, but it didn't work. I spoke with Fitbit support who made me go through all the steps again, but it didn't work. Their solution was to say it can't be fixed and they sent me an email to buy a Charge 3 for a 'special price'. I got it, but hated it and sent it back. I prefer my original Alta HR. It still works fine. The problem is with the app, not the phone (which did not change).

Can I get download a previous version of the Fitbit app? Or is there another app that can work with it?

Hello and welcome to the Fitbit Community @MiriamKle

If I understand your question correctly it appears that you no longer have the Charge 3 and you still have the Alta HR and you’re trying to get it to work with the Fitbit App. There is no possible way to install the previous version of the Fitbit App. Can you share with me the current device you are using to view the Fitbit App? I’m interested if it’s an iOS or Android and what model and version is it. Knowing this information helps me assist you better.
😃 Please keep me posted

Hello again @MiriamKle

Thank you for providing me the information on your Android phone. I checked and your phone is currently listed as compatible with the new Fitbit App. Have you considered just deleting the Fitbit App you currently have then go to the Google Play Store and download it again fresh? (I’m assuming you tried putting in the Charge 3 then tried putting in the Alta HR again and maybe starting with a fresh download would be best) I think it would be worth a shot. If you do decide to reinstall I would suggest deleting the Fitbit App first then shut down your Phone, wait 1-2 mins, restart your phone then head to the Google Play Store. Once you download the Fitbit App just log in as you normally do with your email address and password. Let’s see if that gets you up and running again.

😃 Hopefully this will work. Keep me posted

I did delete and reinstall the app, several times. When the Charge3 came it synced and worked fine. I just didn't like it. It sat crooked on my wrist because of the large band having to be used with the small buckle.... I returned it. Today I reinstalled the app and thought to try it again.  It finds it, sends the code but just won't finish the link.

The alta hr seems to work fine. I have read others comments that they were having the same problem and then a few weeks later all seemed to work again. That is why I thought perhaps the app had been updated and would work again or an old version of the app or  a different app might work.

Hello again @MiriamKle

Im really sorry reinstalling the Alta HR did not resolve the issue. I’m not entirely sure as to why your Alta HR was deemed necessary to replace so I can’t be certain in this will work but maybe this link can help you set up your Alta HR here: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1873/?q=Setup&l=en_US&fs=Search&pn=1

@MiriamKle   If you were able to set up and sync your Charge 3, but not your Alta HR, then I suspect that the Bluetooth transmitter on you Alta HR has failed.  Logic says that this is a tracker problem, not an app problem or a phone problem.

You may be correct. I just found it interesting that the bluetooth worked to know to send the code to the app/phone...

I have given up and am thinking that perhaps I do not need a fitness tracker to tell me that I am not moving enough.

Thanks all.

You're absolutely right Miriam - The Alta HR / FitBit app sync seems effectively depreciated. I am extremely disappointed & only wear mine as a watch. I've followed all the steps & basically have to remove the device in the app & add it again every time I want a single sync. I won't be buying another FitBit product unless there is a fix for the one I already have.

I am also having a similar problem.  New App on the same phone and now my Alta HR does not sync properly.  Have tried all resets and reinstalls.  Sometimes it syncs but mostly it won't AND I am losing history data as well on the App.  Very frustrating and I won't be getting another Fitbit product again either.

Just thought I would update you.

I ordered a dogle to try to sync my fitbit to the computer. Yes! It worked! So the problem was not with the fitbit. I always suspected that the problem was with the app as my fitbit (and other people's) stopped syncing when the app was updated.
Last week I thought "perhaps they have updated the app again and fixed the issues with it" so I downloaded it again and it now works too!

Still disappointed that the original solution from FITBIT Chat was to send me a coupon to buy a new one, a model I didn't like that would also have cost me lots of extra money. Blame the fitbit rather than the app software.

Well, now I move on!
