FitBit Alta crashing when reaching 10,000 steps

My Alta just crashes out about every other day right around the time I get to 10,000 steps.  I have to plug it into the cable and "charge" it to get it to restart even though it seems to have a charge.  Anyone else having this issue?  Is there a solution?

Mine went downhill pretty quickly after freezing, it would just stop working.  I tossed it as I don't have the receipts.  I'll purchase another brand.

Did this issue get resolved?  I have re-set up my Alta 3 times now and am still experiencing the issue. Such a disappointment!

My wife alta hr shut off after 10,000 steps. have to reconnect and charged.

Now i am using the alta hr as a paper weight. The most expensive one i ever had.

Can fitbit do something for me?

The solution best suited for most consumers at this point is the Apple Watch or another brand.  I don't typically support Apple, however, in this case failures in FitBit customer service and product support warrant moving on.

Same thing here I’m in like my 6th replacement within 6 months and have had no help just keep getting replacements that do not work properly. Even with buying extended warranty i cannot get any good device.

Same started happening to me a couple of months ago, mostly right away at the reaching point of the 10,000 steps when the fireworks shows up; so I set my device to 20K and it worked Ok for a week, but now again is happening at the same 10K and without having the fireworks even though my battery was up to 50% or 70%...so frustrating...

Same problem. Is it not possible to push out a firmware fix?

Judging from the quantity of posts by Fitbit Alta owners and the fact that the issue came on at a certain point (it never affected my wife's Fitbit Alta when she was using it five years ago but now is affecting my daughter's new Fitbit Alta), this does seem to be an error that might be fixed with a firmware update.

Even though the Alta has been retired, assigning an engineer to find a fix would certainly be welcomed by the Fitbit community.

fitbit will be losing market share if they opt not to listen to customers.
If they do not want their customers, we can always go elsewhere.
There is a need to resolve the issue asap.

We are  nice community, patience and gracious to wait.
But a solution need to be given, if not.. one to one exchange for another model with a minimum charge.

Same problem here. Halfway through a long hike I hit my goal, fireworks, then dead. I’m going to try setting it way above my goal - I don’t need the fireworks!

My Alta HR does the same.  It crashes midway through displaying the goal celebration.  I wish FitBit would fix this bug.  It is very annoying.

It seems also that do the same when vibrate, for example if it's sync to receive messages from the phone...I'm so frustrated already...

Happening to my Alta HR now too ☹️ Does it just seem to be the Alta that this issue affects? Don’t wanna go and buy a different model only to have the same issue!
