Fitbit Alta doesn't work unless plugged in to charger although battery shows at full

My Fitbit is nearly 3 years old and working fine then suddenly the display was lost, activity tracking and synching and although on checking the battery is full. Display and synching only possible when the Fitbit is plugged in through charger

Contact Fitbit. Get a replacement or new Fitbit at a discount. That’s what I did, and I ove my new Charge 3. Was sick of the nonsense with the Alta.

Hi!  Me too.   I’m so disappointed.  My Alta is not quite 3 years old and exact same thing.   Just “dies” when fully charged.  Was told this morning out of 365 day warranty so only offered a discount.    VERY DISAPPOINTED!!

As another posted, my screen is black but it will sync and it shows a full battery.  How can I resolve this issue.

I don’t think that you can. I gave up on Fitbit and went with a Garman

I have a similar problem, mine charges to full very quickly and I take it off charge and aslong as I keep tapping the screen it will stay on, but as soon as I stop tapping it locks and doesn’t turn back on. Feel like this is more a software problem then battery.

Could be...we've floated several theories...zero response from Fitbit concerning the source let alone an actual solutions.  I just checked out the Consumer Reports website again and the Alta is still the highest ranked device Fitbit has...the irony shows up when you look at the comments.  So...they have a highly ranked product in spite of the bad reviews calling them out on their terrible customer service and inability to stand behind their own product...SMH

Wow! That’s interesting- thanks for sharing. Makes no sense. I really have liked mine and am very disappointed. Especially with Fitbit Customer Service.

Thanks again for sharing the info.

THE SAME THING HAS BEEN HAPPENING WITH ME! when I go to charge my Fitbit Alta and restart it, I am able to tap through the displays...but when I unplug it from the charger the displays will no longer appear when I initiate the tapping.

I have the same issue and mine is three years old as well. I just let my fitbit sit on the charger all day and that seemed to boost it or something it works fine ad of right now.

I am having the exact same problem as the original poster, except my fit bit is only 3 months old. I had an older one and was having issues and for some stupid reason, I bought the exact same model and now its having issues right from the get go.

Doesn't hold a charge, when plugged in, says battery is full. I will reset it and then leave it charging for hours at a time and when I unplug it, it dies in 30 seconds. I am getting really frustrated with this especially because it is brand new.

That’s exactly what mine did. I’m so disappointed and frustrated. I was so happy with mine before it started this. And Fitbit Customer service was horrible.
