Fitbit Alta doesn't work unless plugged in to charger although battery shows at full

My Fitbit is nearly 3 years old and working fine then suddenly the display was lost, activity tracking and synching and although on checking the battery is full. Display and synching only possible when the Fitbit is plugged in through charger

Maybe Fitbit should take a look at the update.

Mine is too old more than 3 years. Still for what it costs it should last
longer!

I notice when you look at the products the Alta is not there just the Alta
HR.

May be that is part of the problem.

I thought that was interesting too.

I broke down and got the Fitbit HR. I loved my old Fitbit - Just so disappointed it didn’t even last 3 years. Hoping this one lasts longer. If not - I’m done with their products.

Love the fitbit product, but quality doesn’t seem to be there. First ones
all my bands came apart, now this is happening. Want this to last longer
than 3 years, especially for the price.
Will have to wait and see how it goes.

I'm experiencing the same issue.  It started with difficulty syncing then turning off randomly and now it will only come on when being charged even though the battery is full???

I originally bought an Alta a few years ago. It stopped working in May..same issue everyone was having. I called and since it was out of warranty, I had to buy a new one. Bought a new one in May, it stopped working about 3 weeks ago. When I plugged it in, it would say fully charged. Even if I left it plugged in for hours, when I unplugged it, the screen wouldn't work. I contacted support and they did ship me a new one very quickly since it was within a year, though it shouldn't break after 2 months of using it.

I am currently using the new one they shipped me and so far it is working. We will see how long it works for. I will post an update on here if/when it stops working. If it stops working, I am done with FitBit. I originally bought it to save money on my health insurance. After buying a few the past couple years, I am probably not saving any money ..lol

Does anyone know if all fitbit models are having issues like this or is it just the Alta? I know most places don't even offer the Alta anymore because there are newer models.

My fitbit is having the same issue as all the other users are reporting on this board.  The fitbit Alta will work fine when it's in the charger.  As soon as you remove it the display no longer comes on.  While in the charger shows it fully charge.  This Alta was working just fine and there was an update and now it no longer displays at all unless you plug it in.  How am I supposed to use this without it being plugged in???? Please help me with this issue.  It's unclear what is being done to solve or fix this issue.  Thank you....

Unfortunately I threw my Alta out. I was getting no support from Fitbit
and got very frustrated.

My daughter had a Fitbit ONE and gave it to me. Not as nice as the Alta
but no problems as yet.

For the price of these devices you would think they would last longer.

Thanks
Fran

Unfortunately, there is no fix. Call Fitbit. They gave me a discount on a new fitbit. Does this make it ok? NO! They force updates which make our device's no longer work.

I am having a similar problem. My fitbit Alta will only hold a full battery charge for a couple of hours and then it dies completely. I connect to the charger and everything seems fine... it will charge again and then when I disconnect from the charger it is dead two hours later 😢

This started two days ago. I've had the fitbit for 2-3 years.

Sorry, nothing is being done...literally nothing. I gave up on my Alta,
which I believe is what they wanted.

Hi,

Had this issue with my first Alta which Fitbit then replaced for me free of charge. However, the new one (about 2 years old now) has now got the same issue. I have almost given up on Fitbit products.

I'm having the same problem. Bought it 2.5 hours ago now it will only turn on when plugged in despite showing full charge. I've tried all the things the others have (restarting, cleaning etc.). Glad to know others had this issue before I spent money on another.
