My 65 days old Fitbit Alta with a full charge shuts down after 4 or 5 hours. When I plug it in, it resets without me pushing the button. The charge battery symbol displays before the clock, and continues to display after I unplug the cable even. Again after several hours, my Fitbit shuts down.
Hope someone can help as I have tried "Chat" only to be put on hold for three hours the first time and one hour the second.

I've had my Fitbit for less than a month and I am having the same type of problem. At first it would turn off at about 80 percent battery, but now it only turns on when plugged in, which is completely useless! I've tried resetting it and it still turns off when I unplug it. I also have to tap multiple times to get the display to turn on. Please help!

I have found the shelf life on Fitbit trackers to be 2 years. After that you start to run into issues. I gave up with my Recent Alta. They were on sale for Mother’s Day so I just bought a new one. Works perfectly. I expect in 2 years I will need another one. That is just how it is with these trackers. New one is great no issues works like it should.

I have turned off all day sync and today got 5 hours before it ran out of battery! This is only just after lunch, no good for me at all.
My point is though that my settings hadn't changed, it was lasting for a few days and then suddenly only a few hours. If it had been draining from the start, i can sort of understand why i should adjust my settings, but these are the settings i want and which have worked.
So either the product is faulty, or the software has changed in the last couple of days. This is not an old Alta, i have this one only since November (bought in Black Friday offers)

I appreciate your efforts in trying our tips to increase the battery life. I see your point of view and I just wanted to confirm that you've checked that article and the factors that may affect the battery. I'm having the same problem- my Alta keeps buzzing like the battery is dead but I charged it for 3 hours yesterday and it's dead. And when I go into the app, none of my data from today was stored- I had over 6K of steps and 24 hours of workout and now it's saying I have 1K steps and no workout minutes. This has been going on for several weeks now.

Hi,
I am having the same issue of the Fitbit only ever charging to three quarters and dying shortly after. I've tried the below methods @LizzyFitbit has mentioned, but I'm still having the same problems..
I just got this Fitbit alta as a belated Christmas gift some time in January and I've had to stop using it for over a month already because it's not working properly. (Haven't had the time until now to try and figure out what to do with it).

I’m having the same issue. My Fitbit is 2 years old and only needed charging once a week. It now turns itself off after just a couple of hours even though it’s fully charged. I’ve tried the manual reset but still no joy.

Hello... I am also having the same problem. I had my Fitbit Alta for about one and a half years now and it's acting crazy. I charged it the whole night and it has a full battery in the morning but after 2-3 hours, it shuts off. I will charged it again and then it will show me the wrong time and date. I tried the restart process but it didn't work. I really like this product as it helps me with my weight loss journey so hope you can help me. Thanks...
