Fitbit Alta only working when in the charger

My fitbit Alta will not stay on after I unplug it from the charging cable. Plugged in, it shows that it is fully charged. I unplug it and, once the screen goes blank, it won't light up again despite tapping it. When I plug it back in it restarts itself, then shows full battery.

 

The Bluetooth connection is also not working (plugged in or unplugged). 

 

I have restarted it a few times. That doesn't make any difference.

 

Any tips?

My Fitbit Alta only works while on the charger. I have tried both the computer and my iPhone. Resetting, restarting, cleaning, everything that I have seen in the post but nothing has worked. It shows fully charged. Once off the the charger goes black and will not come back on.

I am experiencing the same issue after having the Alta off the battery for a few weeks after moving. Any help would be awesome.

same here, seems to be a very common problem lately of Many Alta wearers!:

a new update needed maybe?

wow, so glad I found this forum... thinking now this is not specific to my Alta, maybe this is a little more widespread than we think. Seems quite a few have the same unresponsive display.. all within a few days! After supports troubleshooting with the support representative I'm still with the problem but was offered the 25% . Had the new one in the cart then after a bit of research found this site! 

Maybe an update could resolve the issue!

Mine too started 2 days ago called customer service they said it was out of warranty and offer me 25% off of next purchase.   Weird how all this started with the update this week and seeing alot of people with the same problem.

Called 2 days ago with the same problem, they said it was out of warranty and offered me 25% off my next purchase.  Not sure if I will purchase another fitbit, with so many having this issue at the same time seems a little sketchy....

You're lucky to get a replacement. They confirmed my complaint, but not sent new device so far. Very unprofessional. While reading complaints of other users also expect same problems with replacement Alta (if I get it at all).

Anyone get a response as to how this can be fixed ?? Going on holiday in 3 days and want my watch!

I changed to a samsung gear so i am not going to buy anymore fitbits since i cannot rely on the reliability of them. My samsung gear is awesome.

I understand completely. I’m waiting on my replacement to see if I just got a bad one. If it performs the same then I’m done too.

I ordered mine from Amazon and they’re wonderful about service. If this one has the same issues then I’m done too. The battery doesn’t stay charged for more than half a day. Ridiculous. My old one was very reliable which is the reason I wanted to stick with the same one. Thanks for updates. Good luck with your new device.

Wanted to update: 

contacted support on Twitter. Their first response - reset device (which I did before messaging them) second response - your battery may not be fully charged please use the link on battery maintenance (I told them in my first message that my device was fully charged) they then finally created a case number for me and I have been asked through email to provide receipt.

Yes, that is the same response I received. Being that my alta was out of warranty all they could do is 25% off my nest purchase. I am concerned about the number of people having this same issue if I really want to purchase another one...
