Fitbit Alta suddenly turning off

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Ever since I did the update  I've noticed my Alta all of a sudden shuts off with no warning. Every time the battery is on yellow but not dead. I get nothing on the screen and it stops syncing. I mainly use it for phone or text notifications so not having it working with no warning is a problem. I am able to restart it by plugging it in. But that option is not always available. It never did that before the update. Now I regret doing the update.

So are you guys coming up with a plan to fix our titbits ?

Mine acted like everyone elses, started yesterday.

Ive tried to re-boot it perhaps 20 times now, nothing works.

Cant live without my Fitbit !!!

HELP...

ohh and no need to re-install the Alta -

it can't find it. Like it lost the bluetooth connection.

so to re-install isnt a choice for me.

Tina,

You might try turning off you WiFi and having Bluetooth on.  Sometimes these two don't like to share.  If WiFi is on, seems like Bluetooth doesn't respond.  Give that a try.  I've done this with other items and got them reinstalled.

The Firmware Version that my FitBit App is showing is 21.21.40.2
I just tried to sync and it shut my Alta down.
It also shuts down when the power reaches about 75-80%. I have to "charge"
it every other day to keep it from shutting down.

I am having the same issue. My fitbit keeps shutting off after a while but shows that it has charge when I plug it in. I hope they fix this issue soon. I am not buying another fit it because of a firmware issue.

I agree with all these points. Mine stops once it gets under 50%.

Very aggravating!!

After mine stopped while sleeping one night, I can't trust it to wake me anymore.

Over 6 months with no working Alta, I'm on my 4th replacement and still broken. How many more until Fitbit gets the hint?

Fitbit support didn't solve the issue. Said you are outside of 2 years so here is a discount code. They don't seem to understand that something is wrong. I want the problem fixed not a discount. I don't want to get another of their products if they are going to break them like apple on purpose.

Think there are many on this forum who have experienced the same response from customer support. I contacted them on three different occasions, and realized they aren't really able to respond in any way other than to try to replace Fitbit products.  Ferdinand, a moderator on this thread, has assured us he is working on a solution other than replacement.  I'm hoping he will be successful with a solution other than "purchase a new Fitbit".

I am also have issues with my Alta not holding a charge for more than a day (two max).  I have had my Fitbit for about 2 1/2 years now.  It's very frustrating because I, now, have to charge it every night or every day when I get into the office.  This afternoon I noticed it wouldn't turn on when I tapped it.  When I plugged it into the charger, it showed still almost 1/2 charge left.

Is this problem because of the last update (as I've been seeing) or the age of my Fitbit?

I didn't even get an offer of a discount. I was told to just keep it above 50% charge.

I contacted Fitbit support via twitter yesterday because it was 63% the night before when I contacted Fitbit support and then it was dead the next afternoon. They said when I synced in the morning it was 59%. They told me to sync it 5-10 times a day till either the battery was low again or dead and then updated them once this had happened. It is just frustrating at this point.

You shouldn't have to sync 5 - 10 times a day.  That's just utter ridiculousness!

I agree @PattyinVA but going to try. Also a Fitbit app update was pushed out yesterday so I am hoping this could also solve the problem. Ill update once it dies and I talk to support again.

For what it's worth, I made a video demonstrating my (new replacement) Alta dying repeatedly within 20 seconds. Gotta make those runs quick nowadays...

20 seconds of life out of a brand new Fitbit. Needs to be plugged in to wake up again. Fourth Alta (3rd replacement) that does this. The original Fibit I purchased seemed to have started doing this around 6 months ago. This issue is widespread: ...

I'm out of town and without my Alta since it was too hard to keep working. My app on my phone had been updated, so I'll see if that helps once I'm home again.

I am having similar problems. I reported the random turning off via web chat and was sent a replacement. The replacement is having the same issues . There is no pattern to when it will turn off and is extremely inconvenient as I use my Alta as a watch as well as tracker .  I have now decided to try a different model .

Count  me in. I am extremely frustrated by the same issue with my Alta. A replacement tracker was sent but has the same issues. No one seems to know what is happening.

My replacement is also having the same issue even though I have  only had it for two days

Just curious... Has the latest app update been done? I'm so hoping it will help. Won't know until I'm home to try it.
