Fitbit Alta suddenly turning off

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Ever since I did the update  I've noticed my Alta all of a sudden shuts off with no warning. Every time the battery is on yellow but not dead. I get nothing on the screen and it stops syncing. I mainly use it for phone or text notifications so not having it working with no warning is a problem. I am able to restart it by plugging it in. But that option is not always available. It never did that before the update. Now I regret doing the update.

Has there been a solution for this commonly occuring problem? Mine is doing this and I'd love a fix other than having to keep charging it to keep it turned on

I decided it wasn't worth it and ordered a new tracker from another company!

There has not been a solution that I am aware of. Luckily my wife's is still under warranty. They sent her another Alta and it did the same thing right out of the box. I called Fitbit and they are sending her another Alta and another charger, even though I told them there was no problem with the charger she has. We will see if the next one works when she gets it.

I have been having a problem with my tracker not logging my hourly steps, activity minutes, turning off and will not reset.  At this point I will be looking for something from another company.   I even bought a new charging cable from Fitbit and that doesn't reset the tracker.  Sooo DONE!!!

I gave up on mine...got one from a buddy who switched to another brand...now this one is doing "alright"  I've got to charge it everyday...just started not logging all me steps...I will not buy another Fitbit product if they don't tell us what the problem is...

I've been looking...2nd Alta I got from a friend is acting up...no credible solutions from the company so I'm looking for something else...any suggestions?

Most 'Sickbit' users are fed up with the product and are moving elsewhere. At this point, I'm stuck with my forth product from this company and likely never to get another. You can search reviews of trackers online and get an idea of what else is out there depending on your price bracket...

The only thing I’ve figured out is to charge it before it gets to 3/4 them doesn’t shut off-it’s a drag but seems to working ok when I charge often

Amazing! That this issue has carried on for over a year and then some! I had an Alta that was a couple years old that just stopped working (blank screen etc) but I loved the Alta, so I purchased another one. (also wanted to be able to use all my bands), That one had this problem as soon as I got it.. Contacted support and got a replacement pebble. Nothing but problems out of the gate. Would appear to charge and then just die on me. Was getting over 10k steps a day only to look down and see a black screen....and only end up with 120 steps when all is said and done. Again back to support and another pebble on the way. I honestly do not have much faith in this tracker anymore and that I will have any luck with the one on the way. If not, I will be leaving Fitbit and going with another tracker!

Yeah, I've been pretty lucky.  Friends leaving Fitbit for other  trackers have "gifted" me with their pebbles.  The replacement Alta I got started acting wonky almost immediately.  I'm now using a Charge 3 and haven't had any issues.  BUT...Google has acquired Fitbit so you never know...things could get better?

The solution to this problem is SOFTWARE (FIRMWARE) that needs to be created
by FITBIT software engineers but have not made any effort to resolve the
problem . They just discontinued the product and moved on to create a "NEW"
product.

I have had the same issue for over two years and FITBIT has not had a
solution. I see that they are being purchased by GOOGLE therefore I do not
expect this to be resolved.

I AM DONE with FITBIT !!!

I'm getting the same thing happening - it was my OH's but she never took it out of the box so it's as new. What is additionally frustrating is I use it as a watch too. It seems to me that the product is not fit for purpose.

Well, it's happened to me again. After my original one died, I made the mistake of getting a fitbit alta HR. to replace it. Well at exactly 11 months, it started acting up. Not syncing, etc. I deleted the app and reloaded it twice and it would work for a few days and die again. I got fed up and called them. First tithing he said was well, looks like it hasn't synced in 2 days. We will send you a new one. I asked it it was refurbished and he said yes. I asked how long my warranty would be on that one and was told its till.my original warranty is up. So now I have maybe 2 weeks on the new one they sent to see if it will work. Otherwise I'm screwed AGAIN. when this one dies, I'm done with Fitbit. These things cost way to much to be disposable in a year.
