Fitbit Alta won't charge

I just got mine in the mail and trying to set it up on my phone. I connect it to the charger to get it going and it won't charge. Screen remains blank. I noticed on the back of the Fitbit there are 3 copper dots that are to connect with the charger. But the charger only has 2 prongs. Could this be the reason?? Can someone tell me if theirs looks the same. Thank you.

Hi!

I'm having this exact sample problem! My Fitbit isn't charging, syncing, restarting, or responding to any taps and double taps. Started using it on April 15th, 2016, stopped working May 11th, 2018.

Is this fixable? Is it due to the newest app update? Or is it a complete loss and I can get a replacement?

Look forward to hearing from you soon! (Already lost 2 days worth of steps!)

Best,

Kristina

Kristin a,
Sorry to hear that you are seeing the same symptoms I experienced. I found
the original receipt from Staples and went back to the store. The
technician found the receipt for the additional one year replacement
warranty for the fitbit. I had purchased that warranty in 2016. Staples
replaced my fitbit in the store. The fitbit could not be repaired.
You might have some luck with fitbit directly.
I recommend buying the replacement warranty for the additional year of
coverage.
Good luck...
I put the shovel away for another 2 years. Nothing buried in the back yard.

I have had mine for a year in December, it worked just fine til the other night. I went to plug it in and it started acting up. I decided to look up and see if there was a way to restart it and greatly there was. I followed the steps and now it is charging, but have to charge it through my laptop. Plug the fitbit onto the end like normal, then press the tiny circle on the big part that connects to the computer and do that 3 times in a row. That will reset the fitbit ONLY will not effect goals, process, etc. If that dont work i would suggest getting ahold of customer service and saying everything going on and they should be able to send a replacement.

Hi, I had the same problem. I did the "chat" with fitbit, they did help me trouble shoot....it helped for a while. I was under warranty so they ended up sending me a new one. Good luck!

I've been using my Fitbit Alta for some time now. All of a sudden it just went blank, won't take a charge and when I tried to charge it, the device became very hot. I'm unable to restart it using a computer as my charger doesn't appear to have the "button" to press 3 times in 30 seconds.

My fitbit also has 3 prongs and my charger has two - it's always, easily, taken a charge.

Can i please get some communication here, i have had very good experience with fitbit, im on my 2nd fitbit and it has this problem. I look very well after my fit bits but even when i run into a problem like this i never get the warranty i am legally bound to . Im not trying to start an argument but i feel violated because i spent so much money and now i need to do so again , can i please get some professional help to get a replacement that , i also needed a replacemet for my screen and was shocked when i found out i needed to pay even though in the remedies terms of service it states " warranty period of 1 year from purchase, if a defect arises and a return authorisation request is received by fitbit within the applicable warranty period , fitbit will, at its optionand to the extent permitted byvlaw either (1)repair the product at NO CHARGE, using new or refurbished parts or (2) replace the product with a new or refurbished product" i did not receive a right to a repair or a right to a new product. look like i said i dont want any problem i just want a replacement . I am from south africa and need my fitbit for hikes and calorie checks and im going a whole 3 months now with no news and no solutions
