Fitbit didn't pick up my excersise thismorning

This is the 1st time it's done this. I usually do an hour excersise class on a tuesday(mixture of trx, hiit, weights and core) i done 30mins class thismorning and it never showed up on my excersise log. I had to do it manually...any idea why?! Do I have to work out over a specific time for it to log? I have it set to automatic and 10mins. It usually pics up even a half hour walk...so abit confused as to why it didn't pick up this class as it was an intense non stop 30 minute class? Tnx

.  I gave my month-old Charge 2 HR to my husband and purchased the Alta HR exactly one month ago because I like the slimmer fit of the Alta.  At the time of purchase, I didn't realize the limitations of the new tracker, but decided I could adjust.  However, I am very frustrated that it is not recognizing my exercise activities which are 25-30 minutes sessions at Curves.  It DID record the first session after purchase, but none thereafter!  It IS correctly recording my walks.  I have called customer service twice about the issue, each time told to reset and sync.  The first time did not correct the issue and I won't know for a few days if the reset I just did yesterday will have the desired results.  After reading others' comments, though, this seems to be a common problem.  I will ask for a replacement if I still have this issue next week when I return to Curves.  It's very frustrating!   I would like to replace the Alta HR with another Charge 2, but am past the 15-day return policy at Best Buy.

@bctintexas & @Emma30 welcome to the forums! Thanks for your inquiries guys. I'll be happy to help here. Please note that with exercises such as trx, HIIT, weights, core training, Curves sessions aren't specifically "step-based" activities (walking, running, hiking, etc.)  The high-movement activities automatically recorded by your tracker are the following:

  • Walking
  • Running
  • Outdoor biking
  • Elliptical
  • Swimming (Flex 2 only)

It also recognizes two general categories:

  • Sport—Includes high-movement sports like tennis, basketball, soccer, and others. Sports that might not be recognized include those without continuous movement or that vary in intensity level, like golf.
  • Aerobic workout—Includes aerobic activities with continuous movement, such as Zumba®, cardio-kickboxing, and other dance classes.

I suggest restarting your trackers again by doing this:

  1. Plug your charging cable into a USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
  2. Clip the other end of the charging cable to the port on the back of the tracker. The pins on the charging cable must lock securely with the port. You’ll know the connection is secure when the tracker vibrates and you see a battery icon on your tracker’s display. Your Alta HR will begin charging.
  3. Press the button on your charging cable three times within four seconds, briefly pausing between presses. The button is on the end of the charging cable that is plugged into your computer. When you see the Fitbit logo and the tracker vibrates, this means the tracker has restarted.
  4. Unplug your tracker from the charging cable.

I really hope this helps. Keep me posted!

Thank you so much for the detailed reply to my issue. I actually have gone thru the reset process twice guided by the Fitbit customer service reps. Unfortunately, that did not make any difference; the tracker still did not record my Curves workout. The strange thing is that it did one time - classified as a "walk" - right after I began wearing the Alta HR.

I had the Charge II for about a month prior to replacing it with the Alta HR. Knowing how much more it offers, I have ordered another Charge II (gave the first one to my husband) and will offer the Alta to another family member who I believe will be content with what it offers.

I've found in my experience that it also has to do with your heart rate during the exercise.  The more your heart rate is elevated, the more likely it is that the exercise was picked up by the AHR.

@bctintexas it's lovely to hear back from you! It's nice to know that you were able to find a suitable option that meets your needs. Smiley Happy I agree with @DramaQueenDiva, heart rate has a lot to do with auto exercise recognition. Try these tips while wearing your new Charge 2 when exercising. Smiley Wink

I don't have a button on my charging cable for an Inspire HR.

My charge2 has just started doing this!  Really annoying. It records my walks but not all of my aerobic exercising. Can’t think what to do.
