Fully Charged Alta not turning on despite restarts

Dear Support,

Fully Charged Alta not turning on despite restarts. Alta stays on while on charging. But it turns off after few seconds of removing Alta from charging cable. I have done multiple restarts, but this does not resolve the issue.

Hi, I’m having the same problem. In fact, I received the replacement pebble and charger today and it had the same issue. I’m going away in 3 weeks and I really want to take my Alta with me.. I’ve tried to reset it a few times but that doesn’t solve the problem. Help please!!

Today my 2+ year old fitbit Alta screen suddenly went blank as I was walking.  I felt a vibration so I thought the battery was dead, but it successfully charged. But the screen remains blank, only showing the full charge while it is still plugged in with the charger.  I have tried restarting etc. etc.  Turned bluetooth off then on, turned wifi off then on, restarted the iphone.  I have tried everything I have seen in these forums.  Do I have to give up or is there anything else I can do?  Too bad I am going on vacation tomorrow and was counting on having my fitbit......

Give up! They’ve sent me a replacement pebble and it still didn’t work. They’re sending me another replacement this week and will see how this one goes.. but I’d contact support and maybe see if they can send you a replacement although I think the warranty is only for a year?

I would forget it - I’ve had two replacements and both have the same issue. Latest from customer service is that they can see via my account how many times it is failing but have only offered me a discount off a new one - poor customer service

I'm having the same issue. To be honest I hadn't used my fitbit in some time, I'd been slack with fitness. But it has been packed away in its box safely, now when I go to use it it's saying fully charged but I'm not getting anything else on my screen. it doesn't respond to taps, or when i lift my wrist.

I've done a reset, I've removed and re-added it to my app (and during this process it gave me to code to enter to validate), I can see it syncing with my iPhone app; but other than that it shows me nothing.

I'm really frustrated since this has been an extremely well looked after and barely used device thus far. Anyone would think they make them to fail so we'll spend money on newer versions huh?

If anyone actually has a solution for this other than anew charging cable I'd really love to know!!

find a fix, lol. I will post if he has any luck.

Hi!  I am having the exact same problem as all of you!  My Fitbit shows fully charged when it is plugged into my computer.  I have reset it several times as well.  But it will not turn on once unplugged from the computer, waived around, or affixed to my wrist and screen tapped.  UGH!!!  Really would love to use this lovely tool, but quite frustrated that I don't know how to get it to work.

Hi Andrea,

Could you please help me too?  I am having same problem as everyone here on this page.  My Fitbit Alta was (and still is!) a wonderful, thoughtful birthday present from my family.  Really would love to have it work!!!  It is fully charged, but doesn't turn on once unplugged from computer.  Have reset it several times as well.  Thank you in advance for any help you can provide!!

Yeah, I’m very disappointed with Fitbit’s customer service with regards to the Alta issues. It seems like it’s an actual fault with the trackers and yet they keep on sending them as replacements. I have different bands for them that’s why I’m hoping they would eventually send me a working replacement but I’m not holding my breath! I’ll be going overseas in less than 3 weeks and the replacement arrives this week. If that doesn’t work then I’ll get another brand. I bought mine for AU$249 and it’s a lot of money for a dud tracker! A 50% discount for a new tracker isn’t good enough compensation! Sort yourself out Fitbit!

Adding my name to the list of affected users as well.

Exact same story, fully charged Alta will not stay on. Have tried multiple resets, have removed and added it back to my phone, have charged from different outlets / my computer, but it will still not stay on.

By way of testing, when I unplugged it, I continuously tapped it to go through the screens. Doing this, I'm able to keep it "alive" for any amount of time. However, whenever I stop and the screen finally does turn off, it will simply not turn on again until plugged in.

Really hoping for a solution to be given, I would like to continue wearing the device.

Your experience is exactly like mine. I am trying another charger now. So
far no difference.
