Welcome to the Fitbit Community @BreMarie01.

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and sharing that the green light on your Alta HR is very bright and won't turn off. Thank you for your efforts to resolve the issue, you can confirm the steps to do a restart from this help article: How do I restart my Fitbit device? I also recommend turning off the heart rate setting by doing the following:

  1. Tap the Today tab on the appUser-added image, and tap your profile picture.
  2. Tap your device image.
  3. Tap Heart Rate and make sure it's set to Off.
  4. Sync your device.

Let me know how it goes, I'll be around!

I have the same problem. I noticed yesterday that the battery had died and I know it was full the day before. I usually get 5-6 days out of it even after 18 months of ownership.

The green lights are so bright I could land aircraft! 🙂

I’ve turned off the HR sensor setting but the lights haven’t turned off. The battery drains in about an hour now because the lights are so bright.

Thanks @LiliyaFitbit, yes restarted following the steps. Also battery drained and restarted again, still incredibly bright green lights.

Hi there,

I have the same problem as well. Started last week. Battery now doesn’t last a day. Looks like I’ve got plutonium in my bed at night.

Have tried switching off the heart rate in the app but no joy. Have also rebooted at least 20 times, let the battery go completely flat etc.

Any other ideas?

Cheers

Hi Stoph101

Did you ever get a response to your query? My Fitbit Alta HR is now having the same fault - the green lights are on all the time.  I have restarted device, turned off heart rate monitor etc, I wondered if you got yours fixed?  I can't get a response from Fitbit at all.

@Sugarpet Any luck getting an answer? Mine is doing this now and all I can get from customer support is that it’s a “feature upgrade” and an “expected behavior” for the device.

Hi NoLMo - having found no solution on this forum I raised a query via their Twitter feed, but it was was a waste of time.  Having a case "raised with Tech Support" I got some stock answers about resetting the device or turning off the heartrate monitor.  It was obvious nobody had actually read my questions properly.  I even let the battery drain completely and left the device for TWO WEEKS and the problem recurred as soon as I plugged it back in to charge up.  As the battery was draining so quickly because the lights were on all the time, and so bright, and because the brightness was so distracting to have on your wrist, I no longer use the device. You could try raising a query via Twitter - they might then realise this is not a "feature upgrade" or "expected behaviour" but a flaw. Good luck.

I’ve been following this feed, trying absolutely everything. The green lights will not go off and my tracker does not stay charged a day. Anything else you can suggest/offer! TIA

I wish I had some advice to offer. I basically just had to stop using mine. Customer service has so far told me it’s an “expected behavior” 🙄, given me instructions for how to turn the heat rate monitor off (not helpful), and given me instructions for how to make sure the screen display isn’t on all the time (not even connected to the issue?). And now they have stopped replying. I have pretty much decided they just don’t know what’s happening and don’t care that their product just stops working.

I chatted with customer service and they offered me 35% off a new device. I just ordered! Good luck.
