Hi @Cmarman, welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums! 🙂
I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems with the heart rate monitor on your Alta HR not working. I'd like to help you out with this.
I'd like to know, are you not seeing the green lights flashing on the back of your tracker? If they're blinking but they're not recording your heart rate, you can try to give it a restart. You can easily do this by clipping your tracker to the charger and plugging the charger to a USB port on your computer or a wall charger. Then, Press the button on your charging cable three times within four seconds and your tracker should vibrate and show the Fitbit logo. This will make your tracker to reboot.
Also, you might want to check the heart rate monitor settings to ensure it's not off. For this, once you're on the Fitbit app, tap on the icon of the tracker at the top of the dashboard. Then, go to the Heart Rate Monitor section and make sure that it's set to either On or Auto.
Let me know if you need more help after this.

Having the same issue with Alta HR. Seems to have started last week or so. Heart rate monitoring not work. No lights are flashing like usual. I tried restarting (pressing button 3 times), tried turning the tracking off in the app and then back on, but nothing is help. Would appreciate any help.

Might suddenly start doing the same thing the past week. It's fine and then there's a bunch of dots for an hour or two and then it starts up again. This just started about a week ago. The first time it happened I was really concerned because I have a problem with a very irregular heartbeat that goes slow and skips and then starts up quickly. And I keep an eye on my heart rate on the Fitbit Alta HR. Not sure what's going on but I'm not too happy about it.

Hello - I'm having the same issue where my Alta HR Fitbit is not recording my HR and there are no green flashing lights. I tried the reboot last night (clicking the button on the charger 3x) and it's still not working.
Is there any way to resolve?
I've also tried turning the HR monitor on the app to On and Auto and neither one is making the HR monitor work.

This has happened to my Alta HR as well. The lights on the back are not blinking when I remove it. All other features except for sleep tracking working fine. Syncing fine. It is not tracking sleep accurately due to not tracking heart rate. I have gone on the app and made sure that my heart rate setting is on Auto and I have done the reset. Next step?

Mine tracks heart rate throughout the day but won’t display it for my workout. It keeps saying insufficient data. My green lights are blinking

Having exactly the same issue, last time it happened I managed to get it going again by doing what you suggested but now nothing and I have tried many times to reset but it still won’t respond. I was going to upgrade my Fitbit but now I will not be doing so, you either have a fault that just developed in 2020 or you have a built in obsolescence which prevents this working. I will be moving to a different brand very soon as your product is no longer reliable. I need something that reliably records heart rate.

I agree!!!! I’ve been a big supporter and fan for many years. I’ve purchased several for myself, upgrading of course, and several others as gifts. I’ve convinced friends, colleagues, and relatives alike to join the Fitbit team but I am DONE.
I recently purchased the Apple Series 6 cellular watch, it’s different (I’ve been with Fitbit since the Flex) so I’m just getting use to it but it can receive and make call, plus recognize when I need help for a monthly plan of only $10.
