How to restart your Alta

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Here are the steps on how to restart you Alta. Steps are also availible here.

  1. Plug your charging cable into a USB port on your computer or any USB power adapter.
  2. Insert the other end of the cable into the port on the back of your Fitbit Alta™. Your Alta will begin charging.
  3. Press the button on your charging cable three times within eight seconds, briefly pausing between presses. The button is on the end of the charging cable that is plugged into your computer.
  4. Eight seconds after the first button press, you'll see the Fitbit logo on the screen. This means Alta is restarting.
  5. After you see the logo you can unplug your tracker from the charging cable.

My Alta was lost for several months.  When I found it, it was totally dead of course, so I charged it up.  Then I realized it wasn’t working right.  The time was wrong, the steps first seemed right, but then after an hour, it would go from 1,400 steps back to 682 or something similar.  I tried resetting several times by using my charging cable and an outlet and also my computer.  No success.  It resets by showing the FitBit logo, but the problems aren’t fixed.  It still is showing the wrong time and can’t seem to figure out the correct number of steps.  Any suggestions?

To restart my fitbit alta, everyone keeps referring to a button to press on the cable.  My cable does not have a button?

My fitbit alta doesn't seem to want to hold a charge.

Update:

What do I do if my cable does not have that button?

I've followed the instructions to restart a dead Fitbit Alta HR.  No luck...cleaned contacts on charger and Fitbit, pressed the restart button 3 times on charger.  There was no low battery indication before it went dead.  When I plugged it in to charge, nothing happened.  Any other ideas?

Tried all the standard troubleshooting and restarting instructions. My Fitbit Alta HR remains dead. I know it’s getting power when I try to charge it because it gets very warm. But the screen remains black. There is no activity on the screen.

I got a new iPad mini version 5 yesterday and everything is loaded, but my fitbit doesn't vibrate when I get texts like it did on my old one.  I restarted the fitbit app.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.
