I bought the Alta as a Christmas present to myself. However I never opened it. I just found it still sealed brand new. I have had it charging all day and it won't turn on with taps or even when I hit the reset button 3 times. Could the battery have gone bad from none use? Is there something else I can try?

Yes. When they sit around for a long time with no use the battery will go bad
