Is Alta HR swim-proof?

Ok so on the alta hr advertisement page, in rathe specs it clearly states swim tracking as one of the features. So why is everyone (including the fitbit people) saying you have to take it off to swim? The advert even has a picture of a man swimming while wearing it! Do I buy it or not?

good point. mine has gotten splashed but I take it off for swimming or showering/bathing 🙃

Which fitbit do u have that you wear swimming?

 

My friend swam with her alta yesterday.  Said she does all the time, never had an issue.

Usually I wear my Alta HR throughout the day, but I take it of if I swim.
