My Alta hr died!

My Alta hr is a year and one week old. It has been working well and was earlier today.

it suddenly went black. I have tried restarting by pressing the recessed button 3 times in succession, several times, but no joy.

my app shows it has a fill charge , and a flashing dot thingy above the battery.

any suggestions please? I love my Fitbit.

Hi, @Susgadget, oh dear!  I am not sure about the "flashy dot thingy", but when these sorts of things happen it is always worth giving your Fitbit a good charge, even if the app shows full battery, as that will be the state it was in at the last sync, and not necessarily its current state.

So I would say plug it in to charge in the usual way, and after it has had two hours charging (even if it doesn't seem to be charging) then give it another restart.  Please repeat this process two or three times more.

Unfortunately, if that doesn't bring it back to life, the next step is to get in touch with Fitbit Customer Support on contact.fitbit.com.  They will take it from there.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes.

Thanks for your help.
I had tried to restart it a few times, without success.
I left it for a few hours and tried a few more times... no joy.
I left it charging for over 12 hours and tried to restart it again.... this
time it worked!
It then told me that the battery had no charge...which was strange as I had
just fully charged it on the morning that it died, but anyhow... it is now
fully charged and back.
Thank you so much!

Hi, @Susgadget, I am so glad that all worked for you and you are back up and running!

Your app will only know the state of charge the last time it synced, so that is probably why you got unexpected messages.

This was one of the threads I found when my Fitbit Alta HR died suddenly during a silent alarm. I thought it was a goner, but I left it on the charger for two full days and nights, periodically attempting the reset. I gave it one last try on the morning of the third day, and lo and behold, it came back to life! So just in case anyone out there sees this and is the same boat, it might not be a lost cause.
