You mention in Step 2 that the Fitbit would be charging when plugged in...this is exactly where I am having a problem. It will not charge! I have cleaned the pins and receptors with a q-tip multiple times. I tried to reset the Fitbit, but that won't work either. Any ideas?

I have done the reset procedure. When I take it off the charger the fitbit does not work

I DO NOT have a button on my charging cable. It was purchased in April 2019, has the cable changed since then?

I almost did not notice the button. On mine, it is a round circle about a 1/4" in diameter.

So after reading thru a bunch of things I followed a variety of steps and got my Alta working.
1 cleaned back charging area with Lysol wipe and charger also
2 used original charger connected to
computer and pushed the button 3 times quickly
3. Charged Alta to 100 percent
4 disconnected Alta from Bluetooth and reconnect
now showing 100 percent charged and reconnected
thanks for all of the suggestions

The button is a small barley noticeable on the USB end. If plugging into laptop, it should be on top right where the fitting starts to thin down.

I had to re-install my fitbit on my computer. That FINALLY worked!

This worked for me too. I had the EXACT same issue and then I pressed it 3 times quickly without waiting in between and the log came on. THANK YOU for posting
