My brand new Alta paired, then started to update, then dark screen...

Looking for help. I pulled my new Alta out of the box, put it on the charger, amd went to fitbit.com/setup. Followed instructions, loaded the app on my android, paired the Alta to my phone, then it started on an update. The update failed, so I started it again...failed then the Alta black screened. Can't get it to charge now.

Well, actually I have a Note8, so no. But still does not explain why the
Fitbit is black screened, is non responsive, and won't charge.
