Need an XL band

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Purchased an Alta HR due specifically to the fact that there was an XL band available.  My band recently broke  - Fitbit's reply was to purchase an extender to wear with their L band.  As a plus size woman, I am resigned to the fact that I often wear things that look masculine.  I could buy into the black only XL band (my daughter with a S HR Alta has teal, purple and rose gold bands that look attractive with most any outfit) but I am extremely disappointed that now I don't even have this black band option.  I ordered the extender and it is bulky having two clasps on my wrist and looks even more masculine.  I am so disappointed in Fitbit.  You are not serving your customer base well at all.  The very people who could benefit the most from your product are now excluded.  Shame on you!

I would expect that Fitbit determined there is very little demand for the XL band so it is not cost effective to have them manufactured. You will notice you can't buy the whole device in XL now either. I'm sure if there was enough demand they would sell both whole units and replacement bands. It is simple economics. I love a manual transmission car but there is very little demand for them these days so the pickings are extremely limited. It's called supply and demand. Where there is little or no demand there is little or no supply. Sorry to hear about your situation. I do understand.

Thanks for your thoughts. I absolutely get the economics of it; I was just frustrated and disappointed as I have found the Fitbit so useful. Alas...

Hi, @LAFundo! While not ideal, have you tried looking at third party vendors? I just went on Amazon and searched for "alta fitbit xl band" and the first one that came up the large fits wrists up to 9.9", which is much larger than Fitbit's large.

MakMak,

I have a Charge Hr with the XL band. I’m having the darnedest (please excuse the language!) time finding a replacement for the XL band. Ideally would like some color choices. Been “Googling” and searching for an hour wth no luck. Any suggestions or resources?

PS.....won’t buy a large then add the extender I see online!🙄

@SASKUATCHdo you have any idea what size you actually need? It's easier to shop around when you know the dimensions.

MM,

Thanks for responding. I wear a factory XL Charge HR and my wrist is a full 8”. I bought a large replacement and I can barely get the buckle on the second notch.

Please let us know if you find a extra large band. I have to wear braces on my forearms, so need to wear mine at the elbow. Just using a hairband to extend at this time. I'm still looking for a good extra large band.

Here are a few possibilities I found:

This one is a metal band. It's not that comfortable for working out, but looks pretty good. I have a comparable one for my Blaze and really like it. It's rated for up to 9.9" and it's very adjustable, since the clip just magnetizes to the band. (https://www.amazon.com/Maledan-Stainless-Milanese-Replacement-Accessories/dp/B01N2YX391/ref=sr_1_6?i...)

Some of them are good for up to 8.1", which might be borderline, like this leather one. (https://www.amazon.com/KingBaas-Compatible-Adjustable-Replacement-Accessories/dp/B07C4DGXRR/ref=sr_1...)

This one claims to be up to 8.7" and looks like a similar polymer to Fitbit's. (https://www.amazon.com/Clearance-Noopvan-Strap-Protector-Replacement/dp/B07J9XTVMG/ref=sr_1_53?ie=UT...)

I myself have bought multiple third party bands in the past with pretty good luck. As with everything, just proceed with caution and read the reviews. Especially with the metal bands, I saw multiple sellers and options on Amazon. Good luck and be sure to report back with your findings. Hope this helps!

Thanks Double M!

But, the magnetic metal one will fray and irritate and looks dorky. The leather one is for a different model and the last one looks good but is too short. I need a true XL band. Can’t even find new wearables with XL band. What the heck? Big and Tall people need wearables too, no?

You're right, the metal one was for the Charge 2, not the Charge HR, but I haven't had any durability issues with mine. There is an equivalent one, I must have just grabbed the wrong link. The leather one is definitely for the Charge HR, you just need to do a little work to get your actual tracker pebble into that shell (I saw instructions on some of the other bands), but if the final one is too short, it wouldn't work anyway.

Sorry I didn't have anything better for you! I certainly agree that it would be preferable if Fitbit just kept producing an XL band! I'm assuming it's on the basis that not enough people need/want one, but there certainly seem to be quite a few people coming onto the forum about it.

I have the Charge HR (still because of the same issue). Don’t waste your time, pun intended, get an Apple Watch. They have an app that syncs directly to Fitbit accounts in the App Store. Supply and demand or not, “there’s always a Plan B.”

If the half of the band with the buckle broke, you can order a large band and just replace the buckle part and it will work on an XL wrist. Works until the second half of the original band breaks like mine did. May have trouble matching colors though. Could not find XL replacement band either. No more fitbits for me if this is how they do business.

Not effective at all when you have an 11.5 inch wrist as an ex pro athlete...
