Not receiving text notifications from iPhone 8 Plus on Alta HR

I used always to get an alert and the first few words of a text message from my iphone 8plus to my Alta HR but now they no longer arrive.  I believe I have checked all the permission settings on both Fitbit Alta and also my phone but still have the issue.  Can anyone suggest a solution?

Thanks for getting back @Hoopsbabe! 🙂

Thanks for pointing this out. You're totally right. I just checked in Message notifications settings and it seems that the Show In History option is no longer available. Great call!

Instead, make sure that when you go to Notifications and then to Messages, in Alerts, make sure to have selected alerts to show up on Locked Screen, Notification Center and Banners.

Now, about the tracker being found by your phone removing it from the Bluetooth devices in Bluetooth Settings is just to remove the notifications bond basically. You can proceed with setting up the tracker as a new device even if it still shows as paired. Just follow the instructions and at a point, it will ask you if you're replacing your current Blaze for a new one. You just hit Yes and go on with the process.

Let me know if you have more questions!

Hi @Hoopsbabe, welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums! 🙂

I'm very sorry to hear that you're having problems receiving notifications on your Alta HR from your iPhone 8 Plus. Thanks a lot for your efforts in trying to get it to work. I'd like to help you out!

My first recommendation would be to remove your tracker from the connected Bluetooth devices on your iPhone. For this, go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone. On your connected devices, look for your tracker. Tap on it, then choose the option that says "Forget this device". Then, proceed to restart your tracker.

You can easily do this by clipping your tracker to the charger and plugging the charger to a USB port on your computer or a wall charger. Then, Press the button on your charging cable three times within four seconds and your tracker should vibrate and show the Fitbit logo. This will make your tracker to reboot.

Finally, you can try to set it up as a new device and see if this helps. For this, go to the Account section at the top right corner on the Fitbit app and select the option that says "Set up a new device". Follow the on-screen instructions and once you're done, your tracker should be syncing without a problem.

Something else that would be worth checking is that the permissions on your phone are set correctly. Make sure that "Show In History" option is toggled on. For this, go to your phone Settings, then go to Notifications, then, to Messages and finally, enable  'Show In History'.

Hope you find this helpful. Please, let me know if you need more help!

Hi!

Thank you for your helpful message. I followed all instructions - just two issues..

1. I removed the Alta HR from my Bluetooth on my phone, then rebooted the Fitbit and when I returned to my phone it had already found the Alta HD again so didn't have the chance to load it as a new device.

2. On my phone settings, then messages, then notifications - I can't find 'show in history. I have an Iphone 8 plus. Should I be able to see that?

Thank you - I did manage to erase my Alta HR and then add it as a new device after a second attempt. I was then asked to pair it with my phone's bluetooth which I did. I also checked that all the right permissions were set up on both the phone and the Alta.

I am not entirely sure if it's all worked as I have received no text notifications on my Alta since but that may be because no one has texted me. I will observe for 24 hrs and see what happens!

Thanks for your help - I will report back.

And glad it wasn't me who missed the Show in History Option!

I have been messaging Fitbit for some time on Facebook. My fitbit Alta hr is no longer recieving text messages.
I have tried everything they have suggested and still nothing. I’m constantly nagging them to get back to me and feel really disappointed that nothing is working. No idea why it stopped. iPhone 8plus. Nothing has changed on phone.
