Number of calories burned decreasing after syncing Alra HR to app

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hello,

For the past several months my Alta HR has not correctly synced my calories burned. For example, approximately five minutes ago before syncing my fitbit, the calories burned on my fitbit said 1.2k, but after syncing it the dashboard says only 695 and has also changed the number on my fitbit to this lower one as well. What is going wrong that when syncing it makes it lower? It doesn't have any issues syncing any of my other stats.

Hi there @lauren_huffff. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums! 🙂

I'm sorry you're having problems with your calorie not syncing properly to your Fitbit dashboard 😕

I'm not completely sure of what could be causing this as I've not heard of this happening this way before, but you could try restarting your tracker. You can easily do this by clipping your tracker to the charger and plugging the charger to a USB port on your computer or a wall charger. Then, Press the button on your charging cable three times within four seconds and your tracker should vibrate and show the Fitbit logo. This will make your tracker to reboot.

Also, after doing this, you could set up your tracker as a new device. For this, go to the Account section at the top right corner on the Fitbit app and select the option that says "Set up a new device". Follow the on-screen instructions and once you're done, your tracker should be syncing without a problem.

Try this out and see if there's any difference. Please let me know how it goes!

I am seeing this is well on and ionic and in fact I just saw it in the past few minutes where the Fitbit app went from 1210 calories burned to 1189 during a sync.

The seems to have started after I updated my ionic to the latest bios yesterday whereupon I lost roughly 500 calories

Finally, I noticed that steps and all other metrics are okay.  When I look at my tivity log it looks like activities are getting retroactively classified as riding a bike and that seems to be where I burn next to zero calories for the duration is 30 calories in 21 minutes and things like that.

I have a similar issues, but with miles.

They drop after I sync. I have tried restarting but no avail.

I'm getting the same issue with my charge2 HR. Was just on ~4400 calories, synced and it went down to 3880.

This is BS. No sensible response from Fitbit, as usual . Their software appears to be simply a random number generator.

I have been having this problem for a couple of weeks now. I have restarted my Fitbit, rebooted my phone, deleted the Fitbit app and redownloaded it, but nothing works. It is definitely a syncing issue, but all other stats remain unchanged from what the Fitbit displayed pre-sync. According to the app, i burn fewer calories per day than should be physically possible. Before this issue started, even on days I did not wear my wristband, the app assumed a base number of calories per day that was around 1400... now it’s more like 400.

This issue makes it impossible to use the calories in/out function in the app, which is one of the main reasons I got my Fitbit. It would be great if this issue could be figured out, as I know many other people are having the same problem and have been for years, according to support posts I have trawled through trying to find a solution myself.

I’m having the same problem with the charge 3 and it’s really frustrating but I don’t think I synced it with the app but I got the same results

Hi there.

I did this and it did not fix the problem unfortunately. And its a recurring problem and my versa is 3 months old.

Hi, I have the same problem. After I updated the latest I stall my calorie number has dropped significantly even though I'm doing the same thing. I haven't had my versa for a long time and it's very frustrating

Same issue here with Inspire HR. Every time it synchs calories drop to ZERO. It’s been happening since the latest update. I tried resetting, uninstalling and reinstalling the app...everything out there someone has suggested, I’ve done it. I have a Charge 4 that I’m going to switch to and see if it’s still a problem on that device.

**UPDATE**
I have switched to 3 (2 Android, 1 Apple) separate devices AND switched to a Charge 4. Problem Is STILL happening. I have found NO work-around, no fix and no word from FitBit. This has been happening for me since 7/4/2020. Before that everything was fine.

I am experiencing the same issue. It was also happened around 7/4/20 as well. It’s very frustrating and makes me want to return the device. The sleep tracker is not consistent either. Some nights it works and some not at all.

Same problem occurs on my fitbit charge 3 - huge drop in calories burned after syncing (-1000)...

@FerdinandFitbit are you reading these replies? I'm not sure how you couldn't have heard about this happening when a simple google search shows it happening since at least 2016 on multiple devices. I'm not trying to be mean or anything but it's seriously starting to seem that FitBit isn't really concerned about producing and maintaining a quality product. Since July 4, 2020 the calorie tracker portion of the app has been absolutely USELESS for hundreds of users. We've tried resetting, uninstalling and reinstalling the software, and in my case switching devices completely AND installing on different platforms and nothing is working. This was the ONLY reason I cancelled my premium membership and REFUSE to renew it. There's no point in me paying for services that DO NOT operate correctly.

I appreciate your feedback. I only purchased my first Fitbit charge 4 several weeks ago and this issue occurred very shortly afterwards... Which is why I began searching to see if it was an isolated incident or not. None of my friends who own other Fitbit Models experienced this problem.
I simply was agreeing with the aggravation of the calorie syncing. I will continue to use the Charge 4 until I find a more reliable fitness watch. I do hope you find a solution or another device that meets your approval.  ✌️:peace_symbol:

I came to this forum to see if anyone else was having this problem.  I just got my Versa Lite last week and I noticed that my calorie count drops by at least 200 cals right after a sync.  Hopefully this is a bug they can fix although their tech dept. seems to not be very good at this.   The other odd thing was that I rode my bike 110 miles back in March and my Alta HR said I burned about 3600 calories that day but when I rode my bike 100 miles a couple of days ago, my Versa Lite says I burned 4500 calories.  So not sure which one is more accurate, the Alta HR or Versa Lite.

Got exactly the same problem with my Charge 3! It must be a bug in the syncing software, as it randomly happens across different models...

Please fix this, Fitbit!

Fitbit was taken over by Google earlier in 2020! Pretty sure this is why there is no response  I have owned various fitbits since 2013 and they had always been helpful. Since Google now own it there have been many problems

get your act together Google or we’ll leave in droves
