Outdoor Biking: no active minutes?

My Alta recognizes the outdoor biking but it does not see them as active minutes.  Anybody else with this issue?

Did it not recognize your activity from today? I am having this issue from my workout today. It is not automatically detecting the run but detects the active minutes...

I just did 28 minutes of biking but it did not record my active minutes. I ran my map my fitness just in case it didn't log either even though it is supposed to be synced.

Had a similar issue with kayaking. Recognised through Strava and logged the time etc through the app. Any solutions?

Me too. It picks up that I was riding my bike for 30 mins but doesn't record it as activity and SERIOUSLY under estimated the calories (63).

I finally called Fitbit and they told me that the device recognizes the activity but records it as if you were walking! I had my very expensive pedometer too long so I couldn't return it so I run my Map my fitness app while biking and then transfer the more accurate info into my fitbit. Part of the reason I bought the Alta was because it said it would recognize outdoor biking.😠

Thanks for the info. That is annoying you purchased it for that purpose! I
also have mine linked to Map My Fitness for the better calorie counting
app, so manually entered the bike ride to get credit.

I’ve just started biking to work with Charge 2 and it does the same thing - but sometimes it gives me 1 minute. If I delete the auto track and enter the bike activity manually, it gives me 17 minutes. It’s too annoying to have to do this twice a day, so I might just have to accept that my Fitbit wants me to drive, but I’ll bike anyway!

I've noticed this with my Charge 2 as well.  What's even more annoying is that it counts some of the minutes, but not all of them.  I'm guessing maybe it bases it on a certain heart rate threshold?

Here's my past few rides:
1:07:24 ride time --> 27 active minutes

1:15:56 ride time --> 60 active minutes

1:15:57 ride time --> 43 active minutes

I guess it's not a huge deal since I use Strava on my phone to track the ride.  It just would be nice if the Charge 2 acknowledged the full ride so that it could be included with any walking and/or running data I might also have for that day.  My Charge 2 is getting pretty old.  Maybe it's time to find something that will do a better job for a biker/runner/walker like me...
