If anyone has any advice it would be much appreciated. I bought the Fitbit for this function specifically, and I am so gutted that I have a device that doesn’t work as it was sold to me.

Probably we will never get a fix for that.

When I bought Alta HR back in 2018 I was able to manually start a workout from fitbit's app and track it with both GSP mapping data from phone + HR data from the tracker.

Following an update around June/July 2019 if you manually track a workout it never gets to read the HR data from the tracker.

If you let the tracker auto recognise it, then you get HR data but no GPS.

Long story short, we either get GPS data with a manual track or HR data with an auto-recognised one which sucks because IT HAS BEEN WORKING FINE till the update.
