Same walk, different distances and step counts

Hi guys,

My mum and I both have Fitbit Alta. Today we went for a walk and at the end of it, hers says that she covered 1.5 miles and 6,100 steps, while mine says that I covered 2.5 miles and 5,800 steps.

I've just mapped the walk on Map My Run and it says that the distance we covered was 2.14 miles. So hers underestimated the distance by over half a mile and mine overestimated it by nearly half a mile. Why does this happen and is there anything we can do to make them more accurate?

Thanks in advance!

I know your stride can be adjusted, but I can’t find it either.

It's in the app on your mobile device. Tap your avatar at the top of the screen. Then tap on "Activity and Wellness" under "Settings". Then select "Exercise" and "Stride Length". That will bring you to the screen where you can manually enter your stride length.

Hello @DragonRider83

The Stride should be set, even when using GPS.

As for steps between you and mum, it is not likely that you two will agree, simply because of different strides.
