I had my alta charging lastnight. So today I've had it on all day and I've noticed when I get a message my Alta hasn't been vibrating. Then I noticed that when I click it it keeps showing me the charging symbol. So it's saying that it's plugged in but it's not, on my wrist. I tried cleaning out the charging port with a q-tip but that didn't change anything. What should i do?

@Brebre6 It's great to have you aboard in the Community! Seems odd that your Alta shows that is charging when actually it's not. Please try restarting your Alta as advised in Melissa's post. Once this has been done, check out if the issue persists.
Let me know how it goes my friend!

I am having the same issue for the first time today (when I look at my wrist, it shows it's charging, and not getting notifications). I no longer have the original charging cord to reset the device as described in Melissa's post. Any other way to restart it? Or other suggestions?

I would like to point to this fourm cause many issues and its def a firmware issue (that fitbit denys).

Also if u dont have a regular charger just put it in and out of the fitbit (a reset is basically giving the charge signal and then taking it away 3 times within 8 seconds).

@kylieroyer Welcome to our Fitbit Community. I'm sorry for the late response. By the way, thank you for taking the time to troubleshoot this issue before contacting our forums. I would just like you to try cleaning the contacts of your Alta and charging cable with a cotton swab and a little bit of alcohol in order to remove any dust that the contacts may accumulate. After this, charge your tracker again and let me know if the issue gets fixed.
@dmueff Thank you for joining this thread and our Fitbit Community! Since you mentioned that you don't have the original charging cable in order to restart your Alta, let me go ahead and forward your case to our Support team so they can follow up and provide a solution. You should receive an email from them soon.
@nightdarkangel It's great to see you in the Fitbit forums! I appreciate your feedback and comments about this. Therefore, I would also like to follow up on your case and would like to know more details about the issue you are experiencing with your Alta. Did it stop charging? Is it unable to sync your data?
See you all later!

@Samisflareon Thank you for joining this thread!
Since your Alta is still unable to charge after trying the restart process, I'd like you to try the troubleshooting steps that are listed in this help article. This article contains the restart process but you can skip it since you already tried it. After trying those steps, charge your tracker for 2-3 hours and see if it comes back to life.
Keep me posted on the outcome! 😀

I have found through countless attempts to reset and reading all the posts I could handle that at the end of the day(s) you have to just let the alta's battery die. After that let it charge all the way to full and it should be fine.
In the meantime it will be a little annoying having the battery icon pop up instead of the time(or whichever screen is your homescreen) when you lift your wrist but it will still record all of your steps as it normally would.

My alta has not been notifying me of calls and messages for about a month, I assumed it was my phone. It has not been holding a charge like it used to, it has to be charged every other day. Now today it never fully charged (been charging for 24 hours), it constantly shows the charging icon. I have cleaned the alta and the charger with alcohol. I can not restart it because I also don't have the original charger because it broke within six months.
Just something to think about, a lot of people have had to replace chargers. Also, the band designs is not great. I love my alta but I've been through 12 bands in just over a year. The first one had to be replace within 3 months.

I’m having this issue, too. I had lost my Fitbit for a short while and then found it and the battery was dead. I plugged it in to recharge and immediately it popped up with a charging icon. I took it off the charger a few hours later to workout and the icon was still on. It tracked my workout, but then as soon as I got on my phone to see if I could fix the icon problem, it synced and all the data that synced was wonky. It didn’t keep my information from my workout. Now it keeps saying something like failure to sync.
I’ve tried YouTube advice, forums on here, and a few other things. Even with restarting it several times, nothing is working. Do I literally have to go buy a new fitness tracker? This one is not that old.
