Silents alarms for Alta HR

ANSWERED

Just started using alarms again when school started again, and realized something with the silent alarms for my fitbit. Last year there were different types of alarms and one was the sleep. I didn't know the difference between all of the different types of alarms, but knew that the sleep alarm would keep vibrating for a minute until it snoozed for 9 minutes. Now I realized that it only vibrated 2 extra times like I remembered from last year, the other types of alarms would do. I don't see an option that has the types, and sometimes if I do wake up it's not enough time for me to tap my fitbit; I fall back asleep.

Does anyone know if they've removed it in update this summer?

Hi @HeisAwsum, thanks for stopping by.

As my friends @SunsetRunner and @Odyssey13 have mentioned, there is only one alarm type and there are not third-party alarms that you can set up on your Alta HR.

Your Fitbit can gently vibrate to wake or alert you with a silent alarm. You can set up to eight alarms to recur every day or on particular days of the week only. When the alarm goes off, simply double tap to dismiss.

Fitbit devices vibrate and flash when a silent alarm goes off. This notification repeats several times or until dismissed. If you don't dismiss an alarm, it repeats in 9 minutes. The alarm on most Fitbit devices turns off when you walk 50 steps.

oh I see that people already asked this. I also saw something about light sleep, I don't know what that means.

hello @HeisAwsum

Yes there are still alarms. You can create one (or alter an existing one) by opening your Fitbit app, tap your profile picture on the upper left side of your screen then tap Alta HR then tap silent alarms. 😃 Please let me know if this answers your question.

I know I was talking about the sleep ones where they would continue to vibrate for a minute until snoozing for 9 minutes. Sad that that's gone.

Hello again @HeisAwsum

I’m not familiar with this type of snoozing alarm you are referring to. I looked around and couldn’t find anything. Either this has been removed during this recent update or I just simply couldn’t find anything. I do know that there is a function to help remind you that it’s time for bed. I’m sorry I couldn’t be more help.

Well @SunsetRunner are you familiar with the other fitbit versions or are you new to fitbit?

Hello again @HeisAwsum
No I’m not new to Fitbit but I’m most familiar with the Fitbit I have which is a Fitbit Alta HR like you have. If you are trying to find information about other Fitbit Versions and maybe look to see which one would work best for you I would check this out: https://www.fitbit.com/compare

Hi @HeisAwsum  I've been around since 2013 and have only heard about the one alarm type. You can read more about alarms here - click - with this article dated Sept 13, 2019. It's the current information about alarms. Only one type of alarm and you can set eight of them. It's been that way for my six years here and hasn't changed. I agree that not everyone will wake up with a silent alarm, but if you also use your cell phone, the combination will make you sit up.

I have the Alta HR, just like you and @SunsetRunner

Hmmm, don't know why I've used the Alta HR and remember a sleep option, exercise, and custom alarm type. I think I remember two others that I don't remember the name of. Very weird. I would use the sleep type and it would continue to vibrate for a whole minute!

Hi, @Odyssey13 I can't use a phone because it's my dad's phone that my fitbit is connected to. I don't have a phone 😞

@HeisAwsum  sounds like you are hard to wake up in the morning. You're using your dad's phone to set the alarms, but it's not working because you want to sleep in. Can't blame you, we all have those days. Sorry there isn't a more intense alarm for you.

@Odyssey13 just doesn't make sense, was I dreaming of the types of alarms?

@HeisAwsum  guess you were dreaming since @MarreFitbit works for Fitbit, her information is right. You know, I always had trouble waking up in the morning and was always a night owl. As an adult, I've had to get up early in the morning and often had to put an annoying alarm clock across the room, which forced me to get up. Since you're posting here, look at my signature for more places to post. You might have someone share some tips with you on how to wake up when you really want to sleep in!

Nah I don't need help waking up, I just really don't believe that I was dreaming about the type of alarm. It would just keep vibrating. Also, the alarm on the Alta hr repeats two times before snoozing right? Or does it repeat more times? If only two times then I wouldn't even be able to walk 50 steps to turn it off (not like I would, I usually tap twice)

@HeisAwsum  I've been around long enough and using alarms, but just the one type of alarm. Now there is the reminder to move, but that is ten minutes to the hour and only if you've not moved 250 steps. These alarms can't go on very long because it would run down the battery of the Fitbit and people want to be able to count steps and such.

Yeah @Odyssey13  I don't know what to say but the alarms only repeat 2 times, right?

Twice and then it stops, unless you set another alarm close to the same time. You can have a total of eight.

Hi there @HeisAwsum, thanks for getting back.

Your device automatically goes into snooze mode if you ignore the alarm for more than 1 minute and the snooze mode will keep repeating every 9 minutes until you dismissed the alarm.

Thanks for all your help @Odyssey13.
