mileage/kilometer display on Fitbit Alta

All of my account settings (I looked on the app and the computer signed in), are set to show miles on my Fitbit; however, the info on the Fitbit Alta HR recently changed to kilometers for no reason that I can figure out. I synced it several times since this happened. The time and date on the watch are correct. Any ideas why something like this would happen and how to fix?

Well, after I said my reset worked, now kilometers are back on my Fitbit! Not as before, however. This time, my display now shows miles and kilometers. 🙄

I reset my Fitbit, thanks to your suggestion, and the device is now registering miles. However the app refuses to change from kilometers to miles; but I think I have outsmarted it. At least temporarily. I walk 5 miles a day. On the app, I put my goal as 3…..it says miles, but it is actually kilometers, which is about 4:8 miles. I just make sure I walk more than that so I will reach my goal.
I got a message from Google saying if I didn’t sign up with them by the end of next year, my device would no longer work. That is not going to happen. I’m only interested in a pedometer that is also a watch. I see some online that serves my purpose without the need of an app. I think I may soon be saying goodbye to Fitbit.

Yes, mine registered miles correctly after the reset, too. The next time I synced the app with my Fitbit because I wanted to see my sleep info on the app, is when it added kilometers in too. Very odd. For now, I am just ignoring that info when I look at the watch. I do not. understand why google says you have to have an account with them. They are connected to Fitbit?

Yes. I understand Google bought out Fitbit. This is what Google sent me: "At the moment you do not need to switch to a Google account, but you must do so before 2025 to be able to keep your historical data and continue using your device(s). Learn more at fitbit.com/devices."
