notifications not working with new mobile phone

with my old phone if someone rung me my fitbit would buzz to alert me  -  my new phone samsung galaxy it does not buzz and tend to miss calls  -  have reset and nothing works thanks

You're welcome! Could you please tell me the exact model of your mobile device? In the meantime follow the troubleshoots listed on the My Fitbit device isn't receiving notifications from my phone.

everything working good -  just not alerting me when phone is ringing -  no big deal just hand for work as not allowed phone on in work.

Thanks for your patience to this matter, this sounds very weird I recommend verifying the following settings: 

• Do Not Disturb—This feature prevents your phone from sending notifications. Verify that Do Not Disturb is off. Find this setting under Sound and notification.
• Notifications—Your phone must be set to receive notifications before they can be sent to your Fitbit device. Check these settings:
  • Make sure your phone receives notifications while locked. Find this setting under Sound and notification.
  • If your Fitbit device can receive app notifications, make sure you can receive app notifications on your phone. For example, you can receive Facebook notifications on your Fitbit device, but only if you also receive them on your phone. Find the notifications permissions under Sound and notification.
  • Make sure the Fitbit app is allowed to run in the background on your phone. For more information

my phone is talking to the fitbit - 

1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Account icon ) > your device image. (done)
2. Tap Notifications. (done)Tap the type of notification you'd like to receive (Text Messages, Calendar Events, Emails, or App Notifications), and make sure it's turned on. ( done -  calls, txt messages - whatsApp - calendar)
3. Choose which apps can send notifications to your Fitbit device. For example, if you'd rather see text messages from WhatsApp than Messages, change the Text messaging (SMS) app setting. (You can only choose one app per category.) This list shows the most common apps for these features: (done)
4. Phone app—Dialer  ( mines says calls)
   • Text messaging (SMS) app—Messages (whatsApp)
   • Calendar app—Calendar (done)
   • Email—Email
5. If your Fitbit device can receive notifications from other apps on your phone, tap App Notifications and make your choices. 

note - did a test to whatsapp and said not connecting

Hi Mary,

I had the same issue but figured it out. 

On your Samsung S7 Edge go to Settings > Connections > Bluetooth (Press) > Press Top Right 3 Dots > Bluetooth Device Control History > Fitbit > Scroll to Permissions  > Enable SMS or All 

And then in the Fitbit app ensure that you have your notifications set to display Txt or WhatsApp Messages etc.
