4.28 latest update still no activity!!

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I was assured by Fitbit Support that 4.28 would resolve the issue of the app not recording activities.

My app updated to 4.28 two days ago. Great, I thought, everything will be working again.

Wrong. Earlier today I did an hour workout. I set my device to 'workout' for the duration. So my device knows I did some exercise. I've synched the app multiple times (yes you still have to manually synch, auto synch seems to be a thing of the past) and guess how much activity the app says I've done today? ZERO! I am so sick of this. What was the point of this update? What is the point of setting my watch to record activity if the app ignores it? What is the point of a fitness tracker that doesn't record exercise!!???

The app has recorded my elevated heart rate for an hour. HOW does it not translate this to activity, even if I hadn't set my watch to 'workout'? What does it think I am doing to raise my heart rate and gain over 9,000 steps?

It's hard to believe how messed up this app is now compared with August 2023. Unbelievable how they seem to be purposely taking backward steps with all aspects of the product.

Hi, @Linz16 welcome, may I suggest you check the auto recognise settings in your Fitbit app? From the Today screen, touch your icon in the top right corner>Fitbit settings>exercise>select sport or aerobic workout>ensure the slider in the upper right corner is "on" select a "Sports longer than" that suits you>SAVE. You do not mention which device you are wearing, ensure that any settings you have access to such as HR & AZM are on. Let us know how you get on by posting here again.

Cheers

Hi, thanks for the reply, I haven't changed anything. The auto recognise settings are the same as they've always been, workout is set to 10 minutes. Walk is set to 15 minutes. My device is Charge 2.

Walks seem to get picked up, but will be for random durations.

On Friday, I did a 40 minute workout, again I set my watch to 'workout'. The app recorded it as one walk of 19 minutes and another walk of 15 minutes.

I've never relied on auto recording for workouts, I always set my watch. For some reason, the app is not picking up the info from the watch.

For genuine walks, it does seem to record ok about 80% of the time.

Hi, @Linz16, thanks for your feedback, can you let us know the make, model & OS of your phone? You are probably aware that as time passes the minimum OS required increases Fitbit Compatible Devices - Help Your Charge 2 is best described as a "Legacy device" you've done well to keep it working.

Cheers.

Thanks, I'd already checked this with Support and they said it was compatible.

The phone is Samsung A54, OS Android 14.

I realise the device is considered quite old, although I'd expect them to last years if looked after- theres no reason for them to 'wear out' . I had planned on keeping it until it breaks down, then see whether the Fitbit app has been restored to it's former glory before deciding whether to get another Fitbit or go with a Garmin. The constant issues with the app in the last 12 months have been a pain, and it's affecting all users even with newer devices than mine.

@Gr4ndp4 - You need to catch up with the rest of the people having this issue.   This has been going on for almost 2 months!  I lost streak a month ago with my Charge 4.   This is not an issue with iPhone or Android.  This is just another STREAK lost issue with engineers who do not know how to test before release.

@Linz16  I refuse to use Charge 5 or 6 do to lack of stairs/elevation measurements.  I use me Charge 2 as a backup for my Charge 4 without any issues!

@Silvertiger62 but there was a 4.29 in between which has now disappeared?! I've just done a separate post about it. Very confusing!
