Accidentally added steps by adding an exercise

I just got my fitbit inspire 2 yesterday and it's the first fitbit I've ever used so I'm still working out how to use the app. I was trying to add an exercise in the app after going on a walk. I didn't think to "start" the exercise before going on the walk and thought I had read that the fitbit would automatically track walks and runs. When I got back I added the walk manually so it then doubled the amount of steps/miles I walked during the walk. I then deleted the exercise but my step count and mileage is still showing as if I add taken the walk twice. Anyway to fix this?? I have tried resetting both the app and the device..

It should not have doubled @NeptuneBG.

When adding a distance, Fitbit will use the users stride setting to determine the steps.

Ok but it did? I manually entered the exercise thinking it would just log as an exercise towards my goal of five. But it logged it as steps towards my daily goal. Then when I deleted the exercise, the extra steps from the exercise I manually added were still there.
