Accuracy of distance tracked

I regularly take the same route on my daily walks and I use the app on my samsung phone to keep track of distance, time and steps.  Over the past several months I've noticed that the data is not accurate (same route - different results).

Example:

Monday my route was tracked at 1.48 miles with a 17'02" pace

Tuesday same route was tracked at 1.43 miles with a 18'00" pace

Wednesday was 1.41 miles at an 18'04" pace

Thursday was 1.39 miles at an 18'19" pace

Each day the route had the same start/end points and my pace was pretty regular (retired army used to walking at a steady pace).

Any suggestions as to why the data is so far off?

@LTC_A Welcome to the Fitbit Community. Thank you for the details mentioned.

In order to provide you with the appropriate troubleshooting, please let me know if you're using connected GPS and the Fitbit watch that you have or if you're using MobileRun to track your activities.

Take into consideration that all devices with GPS sensors require a direct path to GPS satellites to calculate location. A weak GPS signal might affect the accuracy of your route and other activity data. Your device uses your step count to calculate distance until it finds a signal, so the total distance calculated for a workout may be slightly less accurate when GPS isn't available for the entire time.

Hope this helps.

I'm using your app on my phone with tracking enabled for walk.  The route displayed on the map shows what I've taken - but when I drill down, heart zone data is not available "says not enough heart rate data available" even though I'm wearing the watch and it is tracking my heart.  Since the GPS satellites don't change position signal strength should remain constant from day to day.

@LTC_A Thank you for getting back.

If you have a Fitbit device that has connected GPS, please confirm you're using the connected GPS option to track your run or walk, because MobileRun shouldn't be generating a workout intensity map or provide HR data in the exercise summary.

Make sure that you have a clear view of the sky when you start the exercise. Environmental factors, including tall buildings, dense forest, steep hills, and thick cloud cover, can interfere with your device’s ability to connect to GPS satellites. If the signal is blocked—either because you're indoors, underground, or due to another reason—GPS won't work.

Hope this helps.
