Adding support for the OPPO F1s

Is FITBIT going to add more android phone support? The 2.73 release was supposed to fix the "Notification service is not running. restart your phone" error that I am constantly getting. I noticed that the OPPO R1, a 4 year old phone, is supported but the OPPO F1s (my phone) , a 2 year old phone (at most) isn't. I appreciate that users like having bug fixes and improvements but how about spending time making the basic stuff work on all android phones, or at least , the OPPO F1s so I can get notifications. Being able to cancel calls from the watch is a really nice feature that I would like to have working. What do you say, FitBit?

Welcome to the Forums @SunsetRunner.

Perhaps you could support this suggestion to add that mobile device to the list. You can vote for it or comment on it to show your support. You can also read the FAQ in case you have any questions on the way that board works.

Please keep in mind that while we cannot guarantee it, there is a chance that phones not on the list can work as long as the fulfill the minimum requirements. That is, Android 4.4+ or Bluetooth 4.0.

Some users have even reported that following these troubleshooting steps has worked for their phones not on the list, so I'd say it is worth a try. Please do keep in mind that we cannot guarantee that it will work.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Thank you fitbit support

I am pleased to say that I have managed to get my Ionic and Oppo F1s
working together with notifications.

It was a battery optimisation issue. The Oppo was freezing the fitbit app
when it went into background and I believe it was this that was causing the
notifications service to fail.

A week ago I stopped the Oppo F1s from freezing the fitbit app when in
background and I have been receiving notifications continuously ever since.

I also learnt that I need to keep the Fitbit app running and not let the
Oppo close it when I "Back Button" it.

Maybe you could investigate how "WhatsApp" manage to keep their App running
, even when the "back button" is pressed. This would assist other users of
the fitbit app in not accidentally killing the app when backing out.

Other than this issue, which I have now resolved, the Ionic is a stellar
piece of technology. Very happy with it, keep up the good work.

How do you prevent Oppo F1s from freezing the Fitbit app when it went into background?

go to  Settings -> Battery -> Others ->Fitbit

there should be two options, "Freeze when in background" and "Automatically optimize when an abnormally is detected" (gotta love that Chinglish 🙂 )

Turn both of these off.

Note: Fitbit are screwing around with their app and they have stuffed the reliability of the notifications service now (since they went to version 2.75). In the lest few weeks they have been bombarding us with hot fixes to try and correct their stuff ups and we are now up to Version 2.77

I haven't verified that they have fixed the notifications service as yet but I will test it on the Oppo F1S over the next few weeks and report my findings.
