Hello there @Keapa, welcome aboard to the Fitbit Community. After reading your post I can only think this was an error at the moment to compile your data. This behavior is rare, but I have seen this in a few occasions.
I'm wondering if you have seen the same behavior in a daily basis or this happened only in one occasion?
Rest assure if this was only one time issue, doesn't mean your tracker is not working correctly. I recommend to perform a restart if the issue persists: How do I restart my Fitbit device?
You can also manually create an exercise in your Dashboard to average the amount of steps your account wasn't able to compile. I know this is not the best solution, otherwise there is no method to recover your previous information.
See you later and let me know how it goes.

Since today I have the same problem with Charge 3 <> Iphone SE. Have even reset the Charge 3 to factory settings. And the Fitbit app removed and re-installed on Iphone. But still every time at zero every time as I synchronize

The same thing has happened to me twice in the past week. Open the app on my iPhone, app syncs with my fitbit zip, and all my steps were wiped out back to zero.
