This morning my HTC One M9 phone updated to the Android 7.0 Nougat OS, and I was anticipating all kinds of compatibility issues. But, much to my surprise, I haven't encountered any problems all day. I am using Fitbit Android app version 2.48, and it actually syncs faster now than it did on the Android 6.0 OS. This afternoon I went out for a long walk using the Charge 2 Connected GPS, and the tracker connected with the GPS as soon as I started the exercise, and maintained it for the entire walk. So, all appears well for now.

During a long hike, I discovered a new problem with the Android 7.0 Nouget OS and the Fitbit app. During the hike, I checked the phone and at the very top, under the date & time, it had a message that the Location could not be found. Since I was using Connected GPS with the Charge 2, that was not a good thing to see. After returning home, I did some research on Android 7.0 and found that the biggest change was to improve battery life. So I went into the phone's battery settings to check on Battery Optimization settings and discovered it had turned on battery optimization for both GPS and Location Services. This meant that any time the screen wasn't active, it turned off the service or placed it in the background. I changed the settings to disable battery optimization for both of these services, and verified that it was still disabled for the Fitbit app. I checked the Connected GPS today, and it stayed connected the entire time.
The GPS Widget was set to use battery optimization
I changed it to disable optimization for the GPS
The Location Services was also set to use battery optimization
I changed it to disable optimization for Location Services
Now both show as not using Battery Optimization
