Android Fitbit app not tracking food and calories intake

I've had an issue for a few months now where my logged food doesnt accurately show up on the main screen icon, and instead have to open the full food log to view my calories.

Starting yesterday, the food log is not displaying my calories at all after adding them. Hours later, they might show up, along with all my other attempts to log my food. It's been a mess, and I've had to resort to just writing it all down.

Customer Support told me to log out, restart my phone, log back in, and try logging. That didn't work. Then they said to uninstall the app and reinstall the app. That didn't work either. I'm still having this issue today, and it's quite frustrating because it's like the main thing I use this app for.

Is this some bug that just needs addressed in an update? My app is up to date, having an update done two days ago. Anyone else having this issue?

Edit: I would like to add that this only seems to affect the quick calories input. Any specific measured food I add seems to show right up, but since I use quick calories throughout most of the day, I cant accurately track my food anymore.

Hello @Animator

Lets try this to see if this helps. First go to the Fitbit online Dashboard and check to see if your stats that are missing is showing on the Dashboard. Just tap Dashboard at the top of your screen and you will see the tiles with your data on them.
Log of of the Fitbit app then force quit the Fitbit app. by tapping the three small vertical lines in the left bottom corner of your screen then tap close all. Uninstall the Fitbit app from your mobile device. Make sure that the OS version of your Android phone is up to date. Now Reboot your Android phone then reinstall the Fitbit App. After the install is complete log back into the Fitbit App as you normally would with your Email Address and Password. Once your logged in sync your Fitbit and look to see if that resolved the issue.

😃 I’m hopeful this helps and provides you with an answer. Please come back and let me know

I recall seeing a same/similar thread going on over in the iOS section too. So I would suspect it's across the board.

Thank you! 🙏 I'll stick with a separate app completely for this purpose. Appreciate the help.

I don't think marking something as 'Best Answer' or 'Solved' without actually providing working resolution is a good way to deal with this, unless, we are sweeping this matter under a rug (which clearly feels like it). So to be clear, this is still not resolved.

More issues,

after a sync only calories burned update, calories left do not update. For that that to update, you have to click the tile and go back and sync again.

Also, the weight graph will not allow me to zoom. It starts to zoom and snaps back quickly to original unzoomed view.

Not working for me even with specific input.

Seems like everyone has different issues. I don't think there is one fix for all other than rolling back to version before 3.59.1 perhaps.

Best Answer

That's why I'm using version 3.58 😊

Hi

I did that it didn't work. What worked partially, still days missing, but
got some back, was the option to choose a new charge 4 (but attach the same
one).

As someone that's been using the 'Quick Calories Add' tool up until yesterday, I didn't know this issue existed. Then yesterday i decided i should probably track calories more accurately with the custom food logging & macro's logging.

All worked fine & showed up on the weekly graph fine. Then the first sync after midnight & the 'calories in' graph bar was missing. Thought i'd log out & then back in, now i've lost all food logged for the last month.

Thankfully people like @MichaelBoehnke are here to help FitBit. Does worry me to see this issue has lasted this long without a fix.

Is there a fix for this yet? This is very frustrating and extremely discouraging and disappointing.

Hi @RLV823! Unfortunately, there's no real fix yet other than using the older version 3.58. You can install this version for example via Aptoide.

They seem to be aware of the problem but no fix yet. Some people have said you can download the older version of the app, but I wouldn't recommend doing that since it means downloading from untrusted websites. I have been using myfitnesspal which syncs the food data with your fitbit account. That app also has an annoying interface and its own bugs though, but at least it manages to get the data saved.

It seems like the creators of health apps just aren't very good at testing.

Like many others my food app is not calculating correctly it is only adding certain foods.

Yesterday I tried to add a custom food and it showed up on the app but didn't actually add any of the macros or calories. I was able to add it on my laptop and it show up but most of the time I am not where I can do that. I am about ready to try My fitness pal. I've held off because I have my frequent foods and custom foods built into fitbit so I've been hesitant. BUT this is ridiculous. How many weeks/ months has this been going on now?

@basil1 If you're using version 3.59.1 on Android it won't work and you're stuck now. See my technical analysis for details. Still waiting for feedback from @LizzyFitbit by the way 😊

Best Answer

@basil1 Totally agree. This has gone on way too long (nearly a couple months now), and never would have been allowed to drag on like this where I work. The technical analysis done by @MichaelBoehnke shows that this shouldn't even be a big issue to fix. It has the appearance of quite simply just a field not being submitted by the app to the API, which is causing a chain reaction of other issues. The app just needs to submit that field, and needs to account for all the current users who are hung up because their instance of the app is no longer submitting data due to the bad API call. This really shouldn't be all that difficult, and I'm failing to understand why this has taken so long.

@TripleDeuce222 100% to what you said!  I mean @MichaelBoehnke gave them the exact way to fix it and it still hasn't been done!

Best Answer

I'm having the same exact issue except it doesn't save my recent, customs, or show my calories at all on the dashboard.  Very frustrating.
