Android app on Chromebook (Chromebook R11 runs app)

Now that android apps run on some Chromebooks, has anyone had luck syncing a fitbit?  I can install/run the app on the computer, but I want to be sure it will work before I buy a fitbit.

Thanks!

Hey there @fitinsj! I hope you're liking the Community so far.

While the Chromebook might be able to download and run the Fitbit app, it is not currently a supported device. This means that the app might work and sync correctly, however it is not possible to guarantee that the functionality will be at 100%. It is possible that it will just not sync with the tracker.

I hope you find this information useful! If you have any further questions, please let me know.

Yes, I've had some success. Still hit or miss on syncing (sometimes it takes a few tries), but I suspect that may improve over time as things are updated.

I'm using an Acer R13 Chromebook.  I updated Chrome OS to Version 56.0.2924.58 beta to get access to the Google Play Store.  Had to enable the store in the OS settings after the update too.  The R13 doesn't have the Play Store on the stable channel of Chrome OS at the moment.  I'm using the built-in bluetooth (i.e. not a dongle).  Let me know if any other info would be helpful.  I am brand new to using a Fitbit.  I am using the Charge 2.

understand this isn't a supported use right now.  Just thought it worth sharing my experience fiddling with it.

Getting this working better on Chromebooks would enable a whole lot of (13+) kids with Chromebooks and Fitbits to do this without a phone or Windows PC/Mac.
