My status with the Ionic..
Android App V2.65.1 was finally updated yesterday and I had a perfect day using the Ionic. I don't use music.. All works. Syncing had been slow on V2.64
On top of that my 2016 Sony (not listed) was updated with Android 8.0.0 today.
Again, all working as configured included syncing to my multi Fitbit One and it's even syncing automatically because I have always connected settings on both Fitbits.
Fitbit Pay is working perfectly
Moderator edit: updated subject for clarity.

With the release of Android V8 Google have now changed the way background Apps notify..

While I'm walking and watching the moon eclipse the Ionic GPS has passed the test. Took a couple of minutes to connect. I had already checked the satellites on my other App and I waited until I had connection.
Also every type of Notification is coming through. No delay...

@Colinm39HRMPH!!! Perfect bloody weather for 2 weeks and on the night of the Super Blue Blood Moon not seen in NZ since 1866 we get the remnant of a stupid tropical cyclone and can't see diddly. I'm fuming absolutely bloody livid.
I had all the rituals in place to become a Vampire Werewolf with blue hair and the **ahem** storm covers up those mystical lunar rays. Guess I'll have to let the sacrifices go. 🙂

I had the same experience for about a day and then it went back to not syncing again.

@SunsetRunnerAt 11:51 we had the start of the full eclipse and viewed the red moon... We had cloud all day and into the evening but it cleared an hour before the start of the eclipse..

@firewall84I'm trying to define "not syncing" and being a very retired engineer/IT specialist I look for baselines..
My sequence of events is...
This morning the sync struggled and wheelied for 13 minutes before success as I watched my phone battery go from 100% to 91%.. No red dot exclamation errors..
I resisted restarting the Ionic..... because I wanted to do one more test..
That test is, to create a manual activity on the phone while I had the PC browser open because I find that gets onto the server immediately, anytime of the day..quicker than you can refresh the Dashboard browser.
You wouldn't believe it but the sync was successful at exactly the moment I logged the manual activity. The results of both were on the PC Dashboard. Then my Ionic was flooded with 18 emails.. So something unlocked the door..
Now 51 minutes later I forced a sync and it took 1 minute.... and the PC browser reflected the time correctly.
So, I have really done nothing and maybe the sending the manual activity was pure luck of timing.. But I have always been suspicious of the servers..because in Australia when its late evening I have never had any problems syncing.. Because there are distributed servers all over the world for Fitbit who knows if this is an overload concern or site maintenance. I get no server error messages. Also Fitbit Moderators never chime in with advice..
Finally this is happening on a my Telco's 4G+ network with 100% signal strength and within 200m of the towers with line of sight..
As I post, another 10 minutes on, I had to have a cup of tea... and feed the dog...and it synced as I opened the App, about 1 minute wheelie.. The phone battery is down another 8%.. and a big AND, the Ionic battery has hardly moved... only dropped 3% in 12 hours..wearing 24/7
So I have tapped the new Fitbit Background Notifications on the phone and, battery, and found the Manage Battery Usage, Background Activity and turned that off.
A bit lengthy but I'm trying to find a logical solution..

8 minutes to sync this morning.. At the 3 minute point I created a manual activity on the phone and that was on the PC Dashboard in the blink of an eye. Another 5 minutes on and the green wheelie stopped, we had synced..

I have edited the Topic heading because I have App 2.66 and it has proved to overcome most of the delayed syncing issues for me. Very rarely I get the red dot exclamation mark.
I have also found the Ionic has quietly synced to the phone as I open the App... My settings are
Fitbit keep reminding me my phone is not on the compatibility list because the Fitbit Wallet is not accessible, it wants to install. But, my Fitbit Pay works perfectly. This happened after the Android 8.0.0 update and the App 2.66. I can't put my finger on what caused the issue.
Now waiting for Firmware V 27.31.1.29 to hopefully stop this.. Even though distance is correct..

Firmware 27.31.1.29 did not fix my Wallet issue on the Ionic but Fitbit Pay still works perfectly.

Has anything changed? Does the Coach change workouts now? or is it the 3 old workouts?

Yes, i read that, but it does not specifically mention if there is other things that has changed?
Like more importantly does the Fitbit OS 2 now finally incorpate what they promised last year? That is

Today I upgraded to Android App V2.67.2. Everything is working as before..
03-18-2018 20:49
03-18-2018 20:49
It's 6 hours since I did my early morning sync, and as I opened the App the Fitbit One and the Ionic synced in front of my eyes and the steps on the One took precedence so I gained another 600 steps from shopping.
That is an definitely an improvement..

Now awaiting Android App 2.68 to be in my Google Play Store..
Well done Fitbit on addressing many issues.. That's 6 updates including January 26th.. and average of one every 9 days...
Everything is still working as expected on my Ionic after nearly 6 months and my Fitbit One, now into its 6th year, my step honesty device.. Works well in multi mode..with the Ionic...
