App 2.65.1 to App New 3.00, OS3.0, Sony Xperia XA2, Android 8.0.0

My status with the Ionic..

Android App V2.65.1 was finally updated yesterday and I had a perfect day using the Ionic. I don't use music.. All works.  Syncing had been slow on V2.64

On top of that my 2016 Sony (not listed) was updated with Android 8.0.0 today.

Again, all working as configured included syncing to my multi Fitbit One and it's even syncing automatically because I have always connected settings on both Fitbits.

Fitbit Pay is working perfectly

A smooth update via my phone, no falters or delays on my Ionic to OS3.0 in 14 minutes, no WiFi this time.

24 hours on and all working, settings remain the same on the Ionic and syncing immediately via phone to server with both Fitbits set off for "All-day Sync:" and "Always Connected".... I do on demand, selective syncing and I pick my bonus steps from the Fitbit One in concurrent mode.Smiley Happy  Selective syncing is working.  Every type of notification is appearing on the Ionic.  Fitbit Pay took a battering yesterday and no issues there.

Three Workouts yesterday and Sleep recorded last night, so far no hiccups that others are reporting.

The battery is being consumed as normal.... 48 hours since the OS3.0 upgrade and the Ionic used 17% which is 0.35%/hour.

Maybe its psychological but the responses seem to be faster.

3 days on since the OS3.0 update

  • Fit Pay still working
  • Sleep has recorded every night
  • All notification types are working and displaying on Ionic
  • Battery consuming 0.37%/hr wearing 24/7

But not many steps, so no Workouts over Christmas and temperature 37oC (98oF) in Melbourne today and 41-44oC (106-111oF) in other parts of Victoria. Phew !!!!!, but no humidity..

App 2.85 updated today and all of the notes in my December post still apply, even the weather.  I have now included two cards in Fitbit Pay and all work.

I did a simple Walk GPS on the Ionic yesterday to compare my results of 2 years ago..  Everything still accurate.  Comparing the Blaze and Ionic and App 2.85. I'm not worried about the 50 metre difference (3.7% variation) because I may have walked more on the inside of the walking track than last time which is built around our local athletics complex.

I'm really glad to see you here in the Forums @Colinm39, your comments are very important for us!

I just would like to add that your Fitbit Blaze works with the GPS sensors in your nearby phone. To get GPS data, you must select a GPS exercise from the Exercise app on your device and bring a GPS-enabled phone with you and Fitbit Ionic has a built-in GPS, the GPS requires a direct path to the satellites in order to receive their radio transmissions.  The accuracy depends on both your environment and the weather; the GPS signal could be affected because you're underground, near many tall buildings, or as a result of atmospheric effects.

See you around!

@GraceGFitbit  Always nice to see you post here as well.. Thanks for rekindling the Blaze interface.

To add to my test I will use MobileTrack on one of my other Fitbit accounts at the same time as my Ionic and compare the results.

Smiley HappyThe other account is the Zip.. Because I use the Ionic and the One in Multimode, I'm also wearing the Zip. My Fitbit One has just had its 6th birthday and being used every day in my coin pocket (no coins) as a companion to the Zip. I'm getting excellent battery life out of the One, nearly a fortnight and probably because it's only a step counter. I replaced the Zip battery yesterday after about 8 months.

The Zip is my insurance policy just in case the One falters...

It's breakfast time here and here is the comparison of my two accounts for step accuracy.. I was mildly surprised as well..

Upgraded to App 2.86 last night and everything appears OK.

All settings remained the same and syncing is immediate.

I have "All day sync" off and "Always Connected" off.

Will monitor and report back later

Fitbit Pay still working correctly with no restarts etc.

A week on from the 2.86 upgrade and no issues.

Fitpay has not faltered and the battery life on the Ionic has averaged 0.62%/hr, now at day 6.

Immediate sync when opening the App and sleep recording is normal.

A fortnight on and everything still OK.   No issues. Syncing is immediate to phone and to PC from phone.

Every morning on awakening

  • I sync to create the sleep record
  • Then  create mu Ionic HR record (Custom Activity) for the sleep period via the Phone
  • Sync again and the results are there
  • Then go into the PC and examine the record below

@GraceGFitbit  I was pleasantly surprised because, today when checking for your new update I found that yesterday my Android updated to App 2.89 automatically.

So I have been doing everything as normal, syncing, Fitbit Pay, food logs and the Ionic never missed a pulse Smiley Happy

Well done again because I feel after every update the App is smoother, especially with syncing..

All working smoothly here.. I sync in the morning, update food when needed and randomly sync during the day. The syncing is instantaneous

My Android hardly sees Fitbit battery usage and based on all of my other usage the settings report at least another 2 days from my full charge last night.  Mainly email, messages and the Internet.

The resulting Ionic goes for about 6 days between charges with Workouts and Notifications.  Sleep reporting is accurate as is RHR etc.

So an excellent overall experience.

Another positive upgrade to V2.90.

All working as expected, when I open the App it syncs immediately, so no change there.

Battery usage on the phone is negligible. 6% since the last full charge which included a GPS route.

Fitbit Pay is working as normal and all notifications are appearing on the Ionic. Full sleep recording is accurate,

Some other subtle noticeable improvements.

I can sync from the phone while I'm using the computer and the dongle is installed..  That was always spasmodic. I still have to turn Bluetooth off on the phone if I want to sync via the dongle.  No change there, but that doesn't concern me because I have to take the dongle out when I'm using other devices like the Kardia, Pulse Oximeter and the HRV which all sync to the phone.

No issues with the APP and battery on the phone with Fitbit Ionic... I have all day sync and Always Connected turned off because I have found just opening the App syncs immediately

Updated tp App 2.91 about 3 hours ago, restarted the phone and synced immediately.

No issues with food log... Syncs when I open the App, on the WiFi home and Mobile.
