App changing distance - Charge 2 & LG G8

I've been having issues recently tracking runs, map looks good, time is good, distance is way off. Thought I had a phone/gps problem, but I've tried a couple of gps apps and it seems to be fine. I have tried other stuff to, but to keep this short let's get to what I saw today. Tracked a bike ride, when i finished the Charge 2 showed 30.29 km, but when I synced with the app it recorded as 10.3 km, which is definitely wrong. I have had this same route record as different distances, but this is the first time I've looked at the Charge 2 before syncing. Ideas? Crappy app?

To better assist you with this, can you please let me know when was the first time you experienced this issue and how many times since then? In the meantime I receive your answers, please try the following steps and let me know if the issue persists:

1. Force quit the Fitbit app.
2. Uninstall the app from your mobile device.
3. Make sure that the Android version is up to date.
4. Reboot your mobile device.
5. Reinstall the Fitbit app.
6. Login using your account credentials.

Hi Ricardofitbit,

I wasn't checking the distance on the Charge 2 prior to this, I would just sync and look online, so I don't know when it started to changing the distance. I have noticed some of my distance have been off for a couple of months, but it is intermittent and both over and under expected. But the distances were mostly within tolerance i would expect.

I had tried all your suggestions multiple times prior to posting.

I have a couple of more results to share. Both of these runs I also used the Strava app for comparison. First run was good, Charge 2 and app showed 5.28km and Strava showed 5.19km. Second run not so good, Charge 2 showed 4.67km, app showed 4.77km and Strava showed 5.28. Both runs were on the same route. This is the normal route I run and should be in about the 5.2km distance.

Does the Charge 2 use the GPS in my phone to track distance or does it use a step count?

Could my Charge 2 be suffering age related intermittent problems?

I was considering the Ionic, but I'm not sure now.

Ran the exact same route again yesterday. Fitbit app showed 5.45km (the Charge 2 showed 5.44km, close enough) and Strava showed 5.26km.

So over the last 2 days Strava has had a 0.02km variance and Fitbit has had a 0.7km variance. That's about a 13% inaccuracy for the charge 2. (0.7/5.26)

And no feedback from Fitbit support. Rapidly losing faith!
