Once again I've been walking and using my surge using walking. I track my walk and my surge said 16.38 minutes of walking. The fit bit app on my android which is an s6. Counted it as exercise. But didn't give me any active minutes. I've had this issue for awhile now. I've followed suggestion on restarting my surge. Restarted my phone. And uninstalling the app and reinstalling and clearing my cache too. It will track maybe a day or two and than stop. Even if I'm doing more than the the lowest for the app to consider it activity.

@Katesgetfit Hi and welcome - as you have said you have done the usual trouble shooting - do the active minutes show on your surge, if yes you could try disconnecting Bluetooth, then reactivate it and then do another sync to see if that helps, if not are you using auto-exercise recognition? some times you need to recheck the time that it is set to start for it to register (if its set at 15 mins) it may not register correctly, and lastly have you tried to add the exercise manually to see if that will give you the active minutes?
next time you go for a walk can you try and manually start the walk via the device and see if that will log correctly just to cover that base as well
just a few suggestions that you may not have tried yet
hope it helps a little
Kind Regards
Wayne

I have entered stuff manually too. And it still is weird. I have started the walk via my surge and doesn't track my walks on the app. But it's weird I added manually a Calisthenic work out for 10 minutes and it gave 13 active minutes. Will try disconnecting Bluetooth next before I try either doing Yoga or Zumba later.

Well I did what you suggest last night and figured I would wait since I did what your suggested with bluetooth. And I did yoga today and used it on the surge and it got sent to the app and tracked it a exercise for 38 minutes. But did 10 minutes of Calisthenics before hand and put it in myself. It took the 10 minutes and added to that to active minutes but not the 38 minutes tracked by the watch.

@Katesgetfit im sorry to hear that that didn't work for you - other than a few articles it may be more advantageous to contact support if nothing in these jump out
How do I track exercise and activity with my Fitbit device?
How do I achieve my active minute goal?
please excuse my ignorance but is yoga an active exercise or is it stretching and breathing type stuff - if its like brisk walking it should track as active you need to pass a certain heart rate/calorie burn for it to be logged as active (I think you need to be in your fat burning range and burn around 4-5 cals a minute for it to be registered as active
the best way I can explain is if you go for a 15min walk at a slow pace and start the device as walking/treadmill it will log as an exercise but not necessarily active minutes now if that same 15mins was at the same pace but up a steep hill or carrying shopping it may log as active minutes as well as you are exerting more effort, the heart rate will be quicker and breathing may change to take in more oxygen - Fitbit will notice this change in HR and work out how many calories have been burnt - if that makes sense (the starting of the device is to log the exercise and data)
I will add a moderator to see if they can add some further details for you - it may take a small while to look in to see if there is anything else to add
@LanuzaFitbit would you be so kind as to take a look to see if I have missed anything and give some more advice on this enquiry please
Many Thanks
Kind Regards
Wayne

Hello @ashwolve and @Katesgetfit.
@ashwolve Thanks for tagging me and for being around to help.
I'd also like to add that this help article explains what active minutes are. Keep in mind that performing an activity is not necessarily enough to get active minuted from it. As @ashwolve mentioned, a specific and constant amount of effort has to be go into the activity for the Fitbit to start tracking active minutes. On top of the intensity of the activity, if you stop for a small rest of for other reasons that could restart the whole counting process and lead to no active minuted.
Hope this helps out! Feel free to let us know if there is anything else we can help out with.
