Hi everyone – we recently removed older versions of the Fitbit app from the Google Play store. Anyone with a phone using Android OS below our minimum requirement may be affected by this change.
If your phone uses Android OS below our minimum requirement, you can continue to use the Fitbit app as normal, however if you remove the Fitbit app from your device you won’t be able to reinstall it. Instead, you will need to update your phone’s OS to the most recent version, then download the Fitbit app. For more information about OS requirements, see https://www.fitbit.com/devices.

Yet another unhelpful move. We will have no fallback to use an older phone when the new version of the app is full of the usual amount of bugs and glitches. Trying to force people to update their phones is not a helpful move especially when coupled with the lack of support for anything but your latest models of tracker.
Nothing about this would promote brand loyalty from me.

1) Do you mean version 3.4.1 or 3.41? we are speaking about 37 versions difference.
2) Advice to update the OS of a phone/tablet is not applicable. Android 7 has been released 5 years ago and if the devices were not updated so far it is impossible they will be done. The right statement should be " if you remove the Fitbit app from your device you won’t be able to reinstall it.Instead, you will need to buy a new device with at least Android 8, then download the Fitbit app."
3) We definitely understand the need to move on and support a newer version of min API. However it's the first time I see a developer not keeping 2 versions with different API requirement in the Play Store. Just keep the latest version available for everybody stating that it won't be any longer maintained
4) Please be informed that latest version 3.43 (hence above the 3.4.1 or 3.41) still adopts Android 7 as minimum requirement and not Android 8 as per your support page

@9BC I'm not sure what OS you are currently on, but suggest you review your Samsung manual on how to update your OS, or contact Samsung directly.
@Giampi71 app versions 3.4.1 and below were removed from the Google Play store. Android 7 can still install the Fitbit app and on 3.43, but it won't be updated going forward. For the best experience, you'll need a supported version of android.

Dear Fitbit developers,
the Fitbit app is no longer available for Android 6 devices. I discovered this after I had to reset my phone. The manufacturer of my device does not provide a System update to a higher Android version. So I'm not able to install the Fitbit app again. I used my Inspire HR for almost two years now every day and night. The missing app makes my Wristband almost useless.
Please make the app available for Android 6 again.
Thanks

Hi
I have a Samsung S5 running Google OS 6.0.1 and Fitbit ver 2.95 (20213397)
Is the version of Fitbit I have the latest for my phone?
How long will the App still work for?
I don't need to change my phone because it does everything I need it for, so why should I spend money just to get the latest Fitbit App?

Hi Fitbit developer.
I have found that the Dashboard managing trackers lost exercise data yesterday😓. (On pacific time 7-23-2021). Last time I saw this problem and it is likely few weeks ago.(這與其他部分的GPS應該沒有關係)Plus, I am sure the GPS was still in good connection, my steps figures is still appeared on Fitbit APP-.I am an Android USER. Could there be any setting that regardless of charge4 settings where was no updated in current android 4G OS?
-Nokia 5 has adequate fast/stable OS feature and I don't intended to always doubting and rechecking when I open up the data on screen as well as in hands. Can you have a better integration when the user felt they are getting sth not so worthy....usd190...I hope I can enjoy a longer lifetime Fitbit😅- syslin

Hello Kate fitbit, it took me almost 2 weeks to update the hardware on the fitbit a few weeks ago now its asking me to do it again? Why? I have not had my fitbit on in 4 days because I've just had a major wrist surgery yet I'm walking over 7,000 steps a day (apparently in my sleep because it's not even on my person and all I've done is sleep all weekend) ok so while I was updating my fitbit I was walking (with it off my arm then too) between 3000-6000 steps a day as well. How do you all know how many steps a day I'm walking when it's off my arm? Also why an update right after I finally was able (weeks of trying daily) to update it? I liked my fitbit until the update that took 2 weeks and then shows so many steps a day with it off my arm. I thought I was going to have to throw it away and if this new update takes over 1 day to do a hardware or software update like the last one I absolutely will throw it away since it's got a major glitch on it with all the steps I'm taking while it's on my night stand waiting to be able to use it after this major surgery on my arm. Smh! What happened to fitbit? It used to be pretty reliable? Now it lies and causes me nothing but frustration!

oh BTW I have a Samsung s10e is it even compatible anymore? There is only one model newer but something is telling me I should check to make sure its even compatible after all the trouble it took to do the hardware update?

Why not leave the older versions available for those users with older phones. Bought my new Fitbit a month ago, what a waste. It cannot sync with the new app, I'm on Android 7, and new app needs 8.

I Googled 'Fitbit app 3.41' and downloaded the ap k from Softpedia. Switched on 'allow installation from unknown sources' in Settings/Lock Screen and Security, (Samsung Galaxy S6), and installed the ap k from my downloads folder. Works a treat!

Brilliant move Fitbit, I and my wife have charge 3 . and both phones with max Android 7.0. Now nothing sync's anymore. So you have just lost two customers as we will use a different tracker and producer in future.

Wow! I had the app installed on my phone previously, and it worked. Recently it stopped working, I tried various things and finally I deleted the app and then was confused about why I couldn't find it to reinstall- then I finally found this statement, which tells me I am out of luck, because my phone reports "your software is up to date" so I gather there is no update available. It is ZTE Z978 / ZTE Blade v8 which is on Android 6.0.1 from 2017.

Well thanks for nothing Fitbit....my fitbit stopped, so I re-installed the app...that was the wrong move....why do companies do this.....maybe people should be warned that when you buy something it will only last 'x' number of years then you have to buy a new one or buy a new phone/tablet etc....
Just as well one can still find files to reinstall an outdated version so one can still use these things, even though it's next to useless.....once again thanks for nothing....never again.

Exactly! Forcing people to update their phones. My phone is now outdated just as I purchased a tracker, charger 4.
I can't even return it and can only get it replaced with the same model.
I will never buy fitbit again. Doesn't even say on the packaging that it is incompatible with so many phones

Why force users to change phones in order to use the Fitbit App?
One of the remedies proposed by Fitbit is to uninstall and reinstall the App.
How will this remedy work if you delete the App from the store, you won't be able to reinstall it?

ugh! This same exact thing happened to me. Last week I had to factory reset my phone and now I can't use my fitbit. I am so disappointed. I am going to try to return it. I was using Android 7 and my phone will not upgrade to 8 either. I can't even use it as a simple watch because somehow the time is a few hours off now. Please, Fitbit Developers, make the older version available to the older Android crew.

Just had a long back-forth with the support team and basically my tracker is useless unless I get a new phone. I don't need a new phone and I refuse to keep buying stuff I don't need.
I'm just so pissed that the packaging does not explicitly mention the compatibility.
