App versions 3.4.1 and below were removed from the Google Play store

Hi everyone – we recently removed older versions of the Fitbit app from the Google Play store. Anyone with a phone using Android OS below our minimum requirement may be affected by this change.

If your phone uses Android OS below our minimum requirement, you can continue to use the Fitbit app as normal, however if you remove the Fitbit app from your device you won’t be able to reinstall it. Instead, you will need to update your phone’s OS to the most recent version, then download the Fitbit app. For more information about OS requirements, see https://www.fitbit.com/devices.

why are we being forced to go spend money . i have a perfectly capable samsung galaxy 6. where can we get the older versions of the fitbit app. i uninstalled this due to not being able to login but didnt know that it was now removed from the "compatibility list".

Looks like i will get rid of my blaze and Ionic and use something else.

Dont you think you should have messaged all your users to tell them you were doing this.

I have owned 3 different fitbit watches/travkers. I have never been as disappointed in a product as I am with this decision of Fitbit's to eliminate the android app for lower OS. I deleted my app because it was acting up and figured I would reload it like I have done before. Only to find out that reloading was impossible. I have relied on this app for many years. Now if I want to keep using it I will be forced to buy a new phone. Do you FITBIT realize that there is a pandemic going on that is forcing people to watch their spending...a new phone is not in the cards for me...but before I ever buy a new phone....I will now be looking for a new watch/tracker....and it will not be a Fitbit!

So VERY DISAPPOINTED 😞

I'm confused. This is not the expected situation as explained by @KateFitbit  earlier who said versions earlier than 3.43 based on Android 7 would have been kept in the Store but not further updated (as logically should be). Care to explain? Thanks

I started having problems syncing my Charge 3 to my Android 10 phone at the beginning of August (around the time of the latest app update). Tried EVERYTHING (reinstalling app, rebooting tracker/phone, etc., etc.) with no luck. The app would detect my tracker, which then provided the 4-digit code to enter into the app (so clearly there was communication between tracker and phone). After several minutes of saying "please be patient" the app stopped trying to sync. I tried this MANY times, in between rebooting/reinstalling, etc.

Even tried several recent previous versions from Softpedia (and another well-known site which this forum forced me to omit) - despite making sure the phone would allow such installs, the phone repeatedly said it couldn't install them.

I know the tracker is working fine, as I'm able to easily sync it to my bluetooth laptop via the Windows fitbit app. Most frustrating.

It looks like all Fitbit Android versions before 3.44 are now removed from the Play Store as of 23-Aug-2021.  I have a 2016 phone that won't be updated past Android 7.11, and am now out of luck.

As the Android app has been flaky for me the last few months, I had been using the Windows 10 app to sync my Charge 3, then using the Android app to view my sleep score and oxygen variation, and have periodically reset the app and/or uninstalled/reinstalled to address data issues.

It would be a big help if either 3.43.x could be put back on the Play Store, or if sleep score and oxygen variation could be made available through the online interface or in the Windows 10 app.

I have attempted without success to install an Android PacKage of an earlier version manually.

I think they are trying to get us to buy their latest tracker rather than update our phones. I just deleted my app, before I discovered that there wasn't a suitable app on the play store. A source of 'Legacy apps' would be useful.

------------------------------------

The Windows 10 app will work/sync with (some) older devices but we still have to go to the online portal to display the details fully, e.g. individual sleep periods in hours & minutes. FB do not have any interest in fixing the Win10 app either. Like it or lump it I'm afraid. (I have a Charge 2 which still works fine, as long as I have an app to sync it with).

After resetting my phone to attempt another manual install of an older Fitbit version, there were several other apps I depend on that were now unavailable, so I bit the bullet and bought a new phone.  I got 5 years of use out of my last one, and hope to get the same or longer out of this one.

Android 7.1.2 came out nearly 2 years ago, but the last version available for my old phone was 7.1.1.  It looks like the end of the road for Android 7 for app developers.

I have a phone running Android 7. It's four years old and runs fine. I did a factory reset today and went to download fitbit, and guess what, no Fitbit app. I am staggered that Fitbit have decided to alienate people who haven't got the latest and greatest tech. I don't care about the latest features. The old app worked well. Why not have a cut down version of the app for older devices (even though 4 years is hardly old)?

This is the final straw with fitbit. I spent $200 on a Versa which now I am unable to use unless I spend another $200+ on a new phone. That's not fair. I will not be buying any fitbit products in the future

I just tried this. I hit 'Install' and it says installing, only for an exclamation mark to appear a few seconds later to say 'App not installed'. Wonder if you have any more advice?

Thanks for rendering my FitBit unusable due battery drain with this update.  Why would I ever buy another FitBit when you have removed the option to turn off All Day Sync?

Have you tried the Windows 10 app? You can control/adjust your tracker from there.

Same here. I am going to get a Garmin.

Currently Galaxy watches require Samsung phones running Android 7. With Garmin you can get away with Android version 6, but for how long? Android 6 is the first version that Android requires location to be enabled for a search of Low Energy Bluetooth devices.

That’s the problem. Read all the posts about it. Please make an app that
runs for older phones.

You absolutely have my 110% support on this issue.

The problem is no one at Kindle is listening or cares.

They'll delete my comment now because they try to hide ALL negative comments.

Fitbit never wrote the kindle version @SunsetRunner and we are not sure about who ported over this very old version.

With android a quick google will bring up several sights that archive older versions. And these can easily be side loaded.

However, while they will work with the latest trackers, the user may need to borrow a phone to set the tracker up to their fitbit account. 5

Seriously @Rich_Laue? who do you think wrote the Kindle version if not Fitbit? I would really like to know the name of that genius as we migt have found a way to support our beloved Fitbit devices also when Fitbit abandons them (for example rendering the Fitbit app no longer supported for Android 6 and below)
