Cannot manually edit exercise duration

Since the most recent app update I can no longer manually edit exercise durations of auto recorded exercises. Initially it seems the edits are accepted but after a few seconds it switches back to the original auto-recorded duration.

I am experiencing the same issues.

Hello @mariaco & @GJLSKM

I'm seeing other users report that they can't edit their completed workouts, so it's not just you.

Unfortunately, it looks like the partial fix that was rolled out last year is no longer working.

I'm going to check around and will report back if I read/hear of any updates.

Edited to add: I'm going to try to escalate this issue and will report back if I get an update.

Please do follow up. I'm having the same issue- I have a habit on not remembering to stop the exercise when my fitness class ends so I used this function regularly!

Hello @mariaco  @GJLSKM @maggiev

The issue has been escalated to the team and a ticket was opened to track it.

Unfortunately, we don't have any idea when the fix will be rolled out. If I learn of any updates, I'll report back.

Spoke with the support chat and they confirmed something that sucks which is you can't edit exercises that were tracked by a device. I think this is a dumb feature. (Lol and ironically they allow you to add images to these posts but then give you an obscure error message telling you you can't use some random numbers in your message)

Human error is so prevalent in using device tracking, I regularly start tracking at the wrong time and need to tweak numbers by a few minutes, and now that's not an option (even though you'd never know that because the UI doesn't indicate that at all). Anyway if you also find this frustrating pile on!

I am having this same problem and will be waiting to hear of a fix.

Hello @Vonny3492

There is currently a bug that affects editing completed workouts. The issue has been escalated and the team is working on a fix. Unfortunately, we don't have a timeline for when the fix will be rolled out.

I just experienced this today. Finished a workout, and when I went to stop the Fitbit, it was on the "Press to start!" screen still. Doh! Not being able to edit the time in the app is a deal breaker. I can SEE the workout on my heart rate record, but it doesn't count for anything

Following this for updates.

been having this issue and thought it was my Fitbit or app fault!

hope this gets sorted soon, this is a feature I use a lot!

Experiencing this issue today. What is the point of having a device to track your workouts if it does so incorrectly and you can't edit to correct it? Ridiculous. This has just started happening right after my return window closed. Incredibly frustrating. Makes me think this device was a complete waste of money. If I have to log out, log back in, restart my device in order to get it to do the ONE thing it is supposed to do correctly then... what is the point of this?

Best Answer

When?

If the device doesn't track properly and you can't edit it to correct the original failure. What is the point of this device?

This needs to be escalated immediately. Otherwise FitBit is just a true waste of money.

Hello @RiekoC

I see it has now been nearly a month since this was "escalated" and my fitbit is doing this today. Is the fix coming right away?

If not, I would like a refund immediately. There is NO POINT to a device that tracks workouts improperly and then prevents you from fixing it's failure. How can you market this as a product to help you improve your health but make it impossible to record accurate information? Feels like I've been scammed. Of course, the issue didn't arise until my return window has closed.

Please provide details for receiving a full refund for devices that are outside return windows but are not functioning as advertised because of a "bug".

Thank you!

Hello @fdljhksdifh

I haven't seen a timeline for the fix to this specific issue. I have seen a couple of users report that Support told them an update to the Fitbit app is expected to start rolling out on 26 Sep 2024. However, I don't know what issues will be fixed with the app update.

You will have to contact Support (<-- click link) about the refund process. Complete the prompts until you get the option to chat or call.

Just to let you know, I'm a user, like you, and not a Google employee. I volunteer to spend my time on the Fitbit forums to answer questions to the best of my ability, knowledge, and experience.

I haven't seen an update to the Android app yet and I am also having the issue with not being able to edit workout info. My device (Versa 3) has been ending my water aerobic workouts before I'm finished in the pool.
