Can't connect app to to sense 2

This morning my sense 2 showed the message "Download the Fitbit app" in multiple languages. I tried to sync the app (version 4.35) but it would not connect with Bluetooth.  I tried the suggestions - force stop app, shut down phone and then sync but it cannot connect with Bluetooth.  I then uninstalled the app and reinstalled the app  but Bluetooth does not pair  - it says "There was an error while trying to bluetooth pair your device. Would you like to try again?". Trying again does not work.  What can I do to fix the problem?

@Achord , A warm welcome to the Community! Thank you for your message and efforts. 

Make sure there are no other Bluetooth devices connected to the cell phone or nearby. (Headphones, keyboards, etc.)
Please follow these steps, some of which you have already done, but the order is important:

  • Restart your Charge 3.
  • On your phone, go to Settings>Bluetooth and remove all connections to the tracker. (Forget, ignore or unpair device depending on the phone's operating system version)
  • Turn off Bluetooth and restart your phone. (Turn it off and on again).
  • Once your phone is back on, turn Bluetooth back on, but DO NOT try to connect to the tracker from here.
  • Go to the app. From here, try setting up the tracker as a new device.
